Default Hello , I'm new hear and need to no I'm not crazy

Let me explain . I have always owned sports cars , yet always wanted a jeep wrangler. Well , I am going to trade me beloved 2000 porsche boxster on a 2007 jeep wrangler. This will be my summer vehicle for fun and open air cruising. Do you think I'm crazy?

I'd much rather have a Wrangler over a Boxster. Going fast around corners never really did much for me and know that in order to have fun I pretty much have to break the law and risk fines and all kinds of stuff really ruins it for me. With a Wrangler you can drop the top, enjoy the sun and fresh air and then take it and friends places no Boxster ever dreamed of. You are not crazy, I just wonder why it took seven years to make the jump?

The JK is great for summer cruising with the top and doors off, but you may suffer some culture shock as the JK will not have the speed, acceleration, or handling you are used to.
To answer your question, NO, you are not crazy.

You will not be the first to trade a Boxster for a JK. In fact, the last guy who did it on here, that I know of, questioned why he did not do it sooner.

Once you are driving your JK, you will understand!

My vote.... NOT CRAZY!!!!

i was also unsure of a Jeep when i got mine, but after finding this awesome forum, you make a ton of friends and to be honest if i were to do it again the only thing i'd change is instead of an X i'd get a Sahara. thats it. after a little while driving the jeep and hearing people's stories and the waves and mods it really is something else. literally a "Jeep World". i think it's the coolest thing. so no you're not crazy you're just looking for something different and a Jeep is just that. you will have a blast

I was in your shoes several months ago. It's a helluva quandry isn't it? I had an 02 Boxster and it was my first open air sports car. I must say that I was more than impressed with that car and it looked damn sexy just sitting stile. One of the major problems was just that, it sat in the garage 4 months out of the year

You may have a little more separation anxiety than I because were comming up on spring (still snowing in March!) and you will have that fever to hear the boxer engine scream. It was little easier for me as I traded last November so the pain was eased with the fact of being ablet o drive my Jeep through the snow.

Do I miss my Porsche...yes. Do I regret the Jeep...no. I think as soon as I take the top off and my family can join me in the sun, it will be a done deal.

One thing I would suggest which you, I am sure have heard in regards to the Porshce...buy the newest or best example you can afford. If you can afford a few mor bucks try getting a '08 Wrangler. Seems there are less problems and you get the Lifetime Warranty.

Good Luck

Thanks for the imput . To be honest , I am sick of every kid in Buffalo driving on my ass or wanting to race. Also , the potholes here can swallow small cars hole and spit the wrecked mess back out to the road. I like the idea of cruising up high without the punk factor. Thanks

You’ll have separation anxiety. I traded a 2000 BMW 328i for the wrangler. Two completely different vehicles cultures. It took awhile to get used to the handling differences between the two vehicles but they are totally and completely different. I love my JK and don’t regret buying it. What the two vehicles do share is commonality between owners, being part of a club.
I do hope the JK is as reliable as the BMW was, although the few things that did go wrong with the car were EXPENSIVE! A turn signal stock for example was $500 I think the JK is $85.
Cheers from a Canadian!
Welcome to the club!
