I will chime in here. I have a 08 X 4dr. I love this thing. I have owned it since March of 08 with almost 15k on the clock. and what can I say. I bought the jeep because I wanted the life style. I want the doors down at 70mph and sun on me. I have owned my share of 4x4's in the past and other FWD. The gas mileage is ok, but its a jeep. If I wanted mileage I would have bought a prius. or some other damn hybrid and be unhappy as hell. I love the way it rides. like a jeep. no to soft, not to hard, but just right (that was until I lifted it). Now its a bit stiff in the ride, but I can deal with that. I have had almost no problems with this jeep. First one is the horn shorted out. second one was to have teh ecu flashed for new software. The other issues that I have experienced (leaky soft top), rough ride, where all created by me. My dealership is awesome, mainly because they all drive jeeps lifted or not. Even my sales rep drives a lifted xj with 31's.

If I ever totalled this one, I can gaurantee you I would own another one. Maybe with a few different options, but I would have another one. Now it would be a hard call between a 2dr and 4dr.

Yes the engine could be a bit more powerful, but its a jeep not a corvette or lambo. yes it rattles and howls (tires) and shakes, but I love it none the less.

I have a little over 12k on my JK. The only thing I would do different is get the 4 door instead of 2 door. I have a 3 year old and it is a pain in the a$$ wo get him in his car seat.

Would not get another one.

Problems so far on my 08 X Auto 11,000K..

1. Soft top leaks.

2. ESP BAS light came on.

3. Transmission seal leaked.

3. Has the clunky steering problem.

4. Has transmission torque converter lock up problems.

I would get rid of it if I didn't spend so much on mods for it. Sucks cause I had wanted a Jeep for a long time and was not expecting such a poorly made vehicle combined with bad customer service.

I had the worse night of sleep in a long time the other night. and the cause of it was my brother borrowed my jeep and I didn't get home in time to get it back that night. I slept like crap.

9 months in and I love it. I am kicking myself for waiting so long.

Comments on this or any other model specific forum are all like the 1-800-hows-my-driving stickers. nobody is going to call in with success but will be vocal if anything goes wrong. There are thousands of drivers who never experience any of the problems talked about here. Your mileage may vary. don't let it scare you off.

Man sounds like you definitely got one of the Jeeps that came off the production line on a Friday. Sorry to hear about your Jeep. I too have the leaky soft top (mine leaks on the driver's side where the door meets the top. Kind of sucks, but I didn't buy it for luxury and kind of think the leaky thing gives it character. But on a serious note, I love my Jeep and even if I had all the problems you are having, I would still love the Jeep 'itself' maybe not the crappy one I bought, but I would sure as hell be looking at replacing it with another via the lemon law thing. BLUF, I hope things start getting better for ya, and hopefully one day you get the Jeep/product that truly makes it stand out from any other off road capable vehicle. Take care

Would buy another one tomorrow.

Got an 08 unlimited Sahara, about 7400 mmiles on her. Only issue's to date have been. A broken clip on the Evap canister (that big white one) jeep covered it no problem. Also, two bad TPM's jeep made good on them too. In fact still waiting to gey them installed.

Very happy with my Jeep.

Keep in mind that forums are sounding boards for a very vocal minority of people who have problems. My point is that you normally don't post a topic to say all is well with your purchase, be it a JK, cell phone, etc.

I absolutely love my JK. Only problem I've had is the soft top roof leak on the driver's side, but I figure it goes with the territory. I didn't expect a soft top to be water tight based on my buddy's experience with many Jeeps in the past. (and he's jealous I have a JK)

There's nothing like top-down doors off driving. GO FOR IT!
