Yeah, I don't have a Jeep yet, but I'm curious, did you go to the dealership yesterday? I know with my car, I've had to get rather pissy with the dealership to make sure they didn't try to screw me over with warranty stuff.

Sometimes the best way to get your way at the dealership is to get a little loud. The last thing they want is for potential customers at the dealership to hear/see someone having problems...

 

OK - just to keep this thread current with my ongoing saga...

I was furious yesterday - the dealership hadn't called me by 5:30, and they close at 6 - keep in mind that they promised that they'd call me with an update no matter what. I was bitching to my wife about the whole situation, and since this was/is her Xmas present to me, she got even more fired up than I was, and begged to be the one that got to make the phone call. Long story short...

She got on the phone, screamed at the sales manager, and recommended that my salesman be fired immediately. The manager apparently couldn't deal with her, and handed her off to the salesman (she can get VERY mean)... he said that they had a call in to their "delivery people" and were still waiting for a call back. She said that's totally unacceptable, since they've had the whole F'n day to get something done and locate my vehicle. She further said that leaving a message with their people and waiting for a call back was not doing anything to actively solve the problem, and suggested that instead of sitting back like a little p-----, he be a man and get on the phone and hound the delivery people until they gave him an answer. She makes me so proud.

So - we're STILL waiting on an answer, and the way we've left things is that they (dealership) will call us when they have ANY update. We've made it really clear that they've disappointed us time and again with their sh!tty service, and have officially broken more "promises" that they've made than we can count at this point.

I'm really tempted (out of spite) to get my "non-refundable" $1500 deposit back and go buy from another dealer's stock, but then I'd be screwing myself - I wouldn't be getting the exact vehicle I want, and I KNOW that the dealership would be able to sell it for WAY more than the price I negotiated with them. There's also the matter of my trade-in, complete with body damage and all, that I'm getting a really good trade-in value for... So, I really have no choice but to wait this one out, and I decided that going down in person would either end up with me getting hauled away by the PD or with a busted deal that benefits the dealership - lose/lose situation.

Bottom line - trying to be an "adult" about the whole thing, but can't wait until I have those keys in my hand... then I can let fly. Also, there is NOTHING that this dealership can do to earn passing marks on any satisfaction surveys - they've had at least 3 chances now to make this right and LOCATE my vehicle, which they contractually have to sell to me... they've failed to do so every single time, and keep making promises that they don't follow-through on: and people in their line of work wonder why the public has such a low opinion of them (no offense to the good ones, like Don-A-Vee).

One other thought I've had: This dealership (Crowley, for those of you in CT) runs an add occasionally where the owner of the dealership claims "anytime a customer isn't happy, I personally want to know about it." Well, he'll DEFINITELY be hearing from me, probably before my Jeep comes in...

I'm also thinking about getting my wife's uncle involved - he owns a very successful Toyota dealership in Connecticut, and knows all the tricks of the trade... he may be able to give some good advice on how to light a fire under their lazy, dishonest asses...

If I was you I would DEFINITELY give Mr.Crowley a call. After all, in his radio ads that's what he says he wants people to do.

Maybe you can get another grand knocked off the price for all the trouble they have put you through?
