Will the 2 door survive.

The classic Jeep will always be a 2-door (or no door). That can't be replaced. Just like they can't get rid of fold down windshields, removable doors, softtops and soild axles. I always believed that the 4-door Jeeps, as well as the 4-door half ton pickups everybody seems to love now a days, are sacrilegious. IMO, they just ain't right.
BUT(!) with that being said, I bought a JKU. If it wasn't for the practicality of the Unlimited I would have ended up in some other uninspired SUV because of my growing family. I bet it's this that has put a lot of folks in new Jeeps over the past couple of years. The JKU has been a hit and filled a niche that the other manufactures didn't see coming. Well, maybe Hummer and Toyota did but their execution sucked.
I believe there's room for both the 2 and 4-door Jeeps in this world but the day they stop building the 2-doors is the day that the Jeep brand will die.

I had a 2010 JKU and it did not feel right, so after 10 months I traded in for a 2011 2 door with three pedals. It was funny as I was driving home I instantly got more waves from other Jeepers. The 2 door is a Jeep and in my opinion it will survive any and all other variations that jeep throws out there.
2 Door FTW! I can't see myself owning a 4 door, as nice as the extra space would be. As a single guy, I don't want to mess with pulling off 4 doors and handling the larger soft top. I'd keep my 2 door as a toy before trading it for a 4 door because it's paid off, and I don't want to incur a loan and repurchase all of my mods for a family rig. When the time comes to need a family car, I'd just get a 2nd/3rd vehicle.
The 4 door is great for families and extra towing capacity and I considered getting one when the JK/JKU's were first in the pipeline. After seeing one firsthand, it just wasn't for me. Most of the 4 door drivers I see in parking lots are the frosted hair, big sunglasses, gold chains, fake tan kind of folks who just made a lateral move from their now unfashionable Hummers (just kidding). The debates over 4 or 2 doors, hardtop or soft top, auto or stick are amusing to us old farts as Jeeps back then came from the factory with NO doors and NO tops and only stick with 3 or more shift levers. Enzo Ferrari once remarked the Jeep (CJ) is America's only true sports car. I don't think Marchionne would ever mess with that heritage.
