One thing I think we may have forgot to mention, the silicone needs about 24 hours to dry, which means a secondary vehicle if it's your DD (me lol).... Also, when we connected the the 90* elbow and the 16" aluminum pipe, we did not use a T-clamp. You can not get one on ( not enough room) before putting either pipe or elbow in upper cowl/firewall. There is not enough room to maneuver going from either hole to tighten one even if you could get it on so I did not use one. Like earlier stated, the aluminum pipe and elbow form a damn tight seal.

If your wondering why we cut a 3.5" hole for 3" piping and 3" elbows, it's for room purposes. Even with that extra .5" it was a tight fit and needed some patience.

Default Effn WOW, you guys are pioneers

So what do you think about dumping the intake thru the fender by or below the battery box then running it up the pillar? I just lined out one of two fab techs that i will be working with, the tech that is already helping is a tig master who builds custom headers and turbo/intercooler setups. I want to use as few rubber fittings as possible and he has a source for smooth mandrel bends all the way up to 5" diameter pipe. What kind of pricing did you guys end up with. ie total cost and labor for your install. Yalls design is awesome.Click image for larger version

Going through the side is ok, but I don't like the traditional snorkel look. Also, I can remove mine and run it just under the upper cowl piece if need be and extend it as well. As for under the battery box, I'm not sure if there is enough room in the fender area to be honest... I'm sure if you went with a fabricated battery/fuse box tray specifically for your setup, it could work...

As for pricing:

Custom batt/fuse box tray $75 w/ship $85

2- 45* silicone elbows
1- 90* silicone elbow
1- 24"x3" aluminum pipe
6- T clamps
1- filter
9' of garage door trim (only length I could get)
1- tube of RTV silicone
$120

Total cost about $215 give or take

Labor cost- free do to a good friend...

Hope this helps

If you've got ant questions, PM me and I'll give you my phone # to better assist you if needed....

Thanks for the help with pricing info, your cost in the project is cheaper than the china snorkel.....one off custom.....cool.....and most of all you guys did it yourselves. Great work.

I could of also continued to run my factory airbox in conjunction with the snorkel but chose to run it as a CAI as well. Most snorkels are going to serve as dual purpose but I chose more air flow. If your thinking about going this route or somewhat the same route, check out siliconeintakes.com

Do you have any plans on extending your breather lines from the axles, transmission, and transfer case to your breather?

Nicely done. Something like this may be in my future.
