I cut a piece of expanded aluminum metal 15" x 28". Primed and painted satin black and then notched out around the retaining clips for the grill, I used self adhesive zip tie blocks and trimmed them to fit between the grill slots. I used 3 on each slot of the grill and 3 on each end, all of them evenly spaced and used black zip ties to secure the grill insert in place.
All the materials came to around $25 or less.

Just did it and I removed my air dam. Looks great. I did it with Lowes gutter cover and painted it with hi temp paint.

I completed the grill mod today. Looks really nice. I used the plastic gutter guard from Lowes and nylon zip tie blocks. I painted it silver with paint designed for plastic wheel covers. As suggested by others, I soaked the zip tie blocks in goo gone to remove the sticky tape. The hardest part was waiting for the goo gone to work so the tape would peel right off. It takes several hours at least.

Just finished mine. Had everything laying around the shop so $0! Added a little twist that I hadn't seen and covered the lights as well.

I did my grill mod a few months ago and it turned out Horrible. I used the metal gutter guards and the ties. After a week the sticky squares came off and the paint chipped. Now it looks horrible and I need to redo it. :/

That's the reason everyone is now removing the two sided tape and using gorilla glue or epoxy to attach the zip tie blocks. Read back a few posts. Better results with this method. As far as for the paint chipping I used the old faithful Plastic Dip. If it chips I'll just spray it again and pull any excess from the grill!

I was thinking the same thing when I did mine but could not figure how to make the mesh stay without it looking sloppy!
