Finally did mine. Sorry for picture quality..I'm thinking of swapping some aluminum for the gutter guard in the near future.

I've been considering doing this for quite some time due to the fact how open the radiator is to rocks and other bad stuff. Has anyone ever lost a radiator to damage?

Instead of using 3M tape that is attached on zip tie blocks I decided to get rid of that 3M (as many people complained that it looses greep after a while). The easy way to take off 3M off of those blocks is to boil them for about 5 min and than simply pill them off.
Used Gorilla glue to attach zip tie blocks, though if I'd do it again I would probably go with some super glue type that dries up quicker than gorilla.
The whole process took me 3 hours two of which I was waiting for glue to settle.
Well said. I was going to use gorilla glue but I don't want to wait for the drying time. Also I'm going to try to boil the mounts as well. Sounds faster. I knew I read all those posts for a reason. ha i will post pics when I get it done.

Looks very nice. Love the blackout you've got going.

This thread is still going strong! I'll toss mine in here too, if anybody in the Denver area wants to do this, I have extra material.

I cut a piece of expanded aluminum metal 15" x 28". Primed and painted satin black and then notched out around the retaining clips for the grill, I used self adhesive zip tie blocks and trimmed them to fit between the grill slots. I used 3 on each slot of the grill and 3 on each end, all of them evenly spaced and used black zip ties to secure the grill insert in place.
All the materials came to around $25 or less.
where did you buy the expanded aluminum?
