I did it, too, and it's great! Now is there a way to solve the head-lights-on-alternating-blink issue???

ok so i have a question i did this mod about a month ago and just noticed that my side markers are not flashing unless the lights are on.. any reason for this not sure if it has always been this way or not but not sure y they would only flash when lights are on.. I do have LED bulbs in the marker lights could this have anything to do with it cause i am pretty sure they worked before i put them in

You are correct they likely worked before, The L.E.D.’s do not produce the load needed for the circuit to work correctly.

You could put some load resistors across them I don't rember the value it was like 10 Ohm 20 watt that's a guess.

Finally got mine done too. The hardest part was removing the grille because my winch has it wedged in there pretty good. I made sure to cut and tape everything back all nice and tight.

Lights off, both front and side blink at the same time.
Lights on, they alternate.

On a side note, both my white wires with stripes seemed to have a green stripe, not grey. But as long as you use the outer most white/stripe wire, you'll be fine.

Great mod. Took about 5 or 10 minutes per side and I didn't take the grill off.

I reached in through the front of the wheel well and twisted the light harness assy. at the back of the turn signal light down about a quarter turn just like if you were changing the bulb. Popped right out.

Then I followed the wire loom from the side marker light to the plastic push connecter that secures the wire loom to the underside of the fender, pulled the plastic push connector out of the fender to get some slack.

Keep following the wire loom to just behind the fender where the plastic fender and metal fender meet and you will find where it connects to the lighting harness and un-plug it. That gets everything out where you can work on it.

Then you can snip the black wire about 1 1/2" back from the connector and pull it out on the other side of the tape at the wire loom, make your connections and plug everything back in.

No extra wire needed and you will have plenty of room to work in the fenderwell without taking off the grill.

Big difference and so easy even a hummer owner can do it...or an All State agent... or something like that...

Took my long-winded A$$ longer to write this than to do the mod.
