So I attempted this mod today and the problem I am having is that the wire for the led strip that I got is to small for the snap lock connector. Can I just get a larger gauge wire and intertwine the two and wrap with electrical tape and feed the larger wire into the snap lock connector?

That would work...... or if you are really lazy you can fold one inch of the wire back onto itself doubling it and then it will be enough for the connector to work. It has worked for me in the past as a quick solution but there are definately more correct ways to make the connection.

I ended up doing it the right way with a connector, but the snap lock connectors still were to large for the orange/grey stripe wire and the ground wires so I ended up stripping some of the wire coating off and wrapping the LED wires around the electrical taping it up. I know it is not the best wiring job it seems to be working just fine so far and it should stay just fine.

Thanks again KMB,
Got it done yesterday.....you weren't kidding about not having any room back there behind the console.

The 9 inch strip is very bright, so I took a very black tipped magic marker and blacked-out several of the LED diodes....toned it down nicely.

Thanks for an awesome and very useful mod.

Default Interior lights

Here is the lighting that I installed today. Mopar lighting is $267, I paid $27 shipped for all four lights and installed in about an hour. Hooked them up to the dome light so I didn't have to worry about a switch and they dim out with the dome as well. Bought the lights from the 'bay and cut out the little controller that came with them so I could get them all to light the same. 18 LEDs per bar x 4 bars.
