Default dash removal

I am wondering, do I need to take the dash apart to do this mod, if so how do I remove it to get to these wires. Thanks

You'll need to remove the trim piece that goes around the radio, vents, hvac controls. It's pretty simple. In order to remove that piece, the "overhang" at the top will need to be popped off too. There are several threads on how to remove it. It's a 5 minute deal.

Also look for the "Big Dark Hole at Night" post that I did in Electrical section as it may help as it is the same, I just reposted with pics here.
its funny you mentioned the cheesy ricer stuff...

for a Jeep isnt installing this cheesy ricer looking? It should come with a dyno sheet saying it will add 10 extra horsepower.

Not trying to start anything just think its not very Jeep like.

Thumbs up

I like the visual walk through of the wiring! Cool write-up!

All installs look great and I will do mine in Red, because my jeep is red and I do drive at night in the country.

Damn skippy. Jeep engineers made it so you can't see the dash, and that's how it should be. We shouldn't lift them either. All rims should be 15", and if they don't fit, modify the calipers, because real jeeps don't use any of that big rim stuff.

Seriously, my options were to never see the cupholder, and not have floor lights (which did come from the factory for some), or make it so I could see. Rather than put a white LED that requires turning on and off, I decided on red to not mess with my night vision. Just because you don't like it doesn't make it ricer.
It's not like I put a spoiler and a fart can exhaust on it.

My mom always said if you can't say something nice, then don't say anything at all.

my mom said the same thing, but then I grew up and decided I have an opinion and I am not going to hold my tongue cause someone wont like it. Its just an opinion and confrontation doesnt have to be a fight.

I like the idea but the colored lights arent my cup of tea. That is all, didnt talk down to it, just said my piece. I am going to use this idea but with low lumens lights matching the dash and radio colors.
