Rear Seat Angle Adjustment Write-Up
Not to be a downer on the mod but i have to wonder how much extra shear stress is being placed on those seat bolts. In the event of a crash it would seem more probable that the seat mount could break off at those bolts and possibly create catastrophic failure of the entire seat assembly. This likely would increase the injuries incurred to the passengers in the rear seat. Just my two cents.
Got this mod completed today. Some points that I had to do slightly different for the 3/8" flat bar are:
Before my 16 yr. old son & 12 yr. old daughter complained about the back seats, now they don't! This mod is worth it.
- I needed to drill a 1/2" vs. a 3/8" hole for the bolt to fit through. (I have an 08 Sahara Unlimited.)
- I spray painted the bare metal to prevent rusting.
- I used a 2' breaker bar with an 18mm socket to loosen the bolts then switch to a 1/2" base ratchet to finish removing the bolts. I tried to use an impact wrench, but it did not budge the bolts.
- Using a bungee cord to hold up the lower seat up is a must to remove the back three bolts.
- To slide the back three larger plates under the the feat of the seat, I loosed up the the corresponding bolts. You can see these from the cargo area. and they are easily accessible.
- When I screwed the bolts back in, I used Loc-tite as well as some serious elbow grease.

It's been a while since I visited my thread.
Long term report - Zero problems latching, no loosening of any bolts or washers.
I am surprised how well this minor mod worked out.
Hopefully Jeep will take notice and provide better seating in the future.

Maybe the 2011 is different, but this did not work for me... so unfortunately I had to rework mine with larger holes and a new location for the longer 3 pieces.
I would recommend:
1-1/2" x 3/8" bar stock
Front 4: 2-1/2" long, 1/2" hole 3/4 inch from the end
Rear 3: 5" long, 1/2" hole 2-1/4 inch from the end.

When u guys say 3/4 inch from the end do u mean the top of the whole or the center of it?
