Just done this to my 2013 and it sits a lot better. We are going on vacation and the kids will be back there for 10hrs. I feel a little better about it now. Thanks for the idea.

I know it is probably a long shot, and I know there are probably an infinite number of different situtations that can occur in an accident, but I would like to think that if I am ever in an aweful crash I didn't contribute to someone I really care about getting injured or killed, as well as myself, that's all.
If you hit something hard enough to snap those bolts....I don't think the back seat occupants would do so well...or any other occupant.

Finished my mod. Ended up with 6 washers stacked in the back and 8 in the front. Going to go ahead and replace the bolts with ones longer to make up the difference.

Default great mod, just finished on a 2011

Ive had a ton of complaints from buddies about comfort in the rear seat. So this was a huge help. I used aluminum flat stock a 1/4 inch thick. Four pieces in the front measuring 1 1/2 inch wide by 2 1/2 Long. I traced the hole locations for front and rear brackets once I removed the bolts. I used 1/4 inch aluminum for the rear brackets also. Those back brackets measured 2 inches wide by 4 inches long. Took alot of effort to break the bolts loose, my aircompressor acted up and I got stuck using a 16 inch rachet. Befor the mod I had about 11 inches from the back of the headrest to the soft top bracket on the cage, after the mod I had about 9 1/2 inches. Small but noticable. Thanks for figuring this out guys!!

Brilliant mod. I used 1/8" aluminum flat stock cut to 2.5" long and played with the shims until I found the right comfort level. Ended up with 3 (3/8") in the back and 1 (1/8") in the front.

Not easily without pulling the seat up again. Here are a few shots:

So is this "illegal" I feel like seat modification would be frowned upon if you got into a wreck
