Mine is leaking too. I'm at 67,000 miles. This really seems to easy. I thought the engineers that design vehicles make everything a PITA on purpose.

Default Replacing Mine Tomorrow

I've been having random engine related issues on my 2007 Unlimited now at 50,000.
Tomorrow I'm replacing the water pump after a sight leak has developed now into a substantial one.

Thanks for the thread! I am not a mechanic, so this really helped to convince me to do it myself.

Great write up! Mine started leaking at 49k. I called the dealer and found out it was covered under the lifetime powertrain warranty! I was all set to use this thread as my instruction sheet.

Why are these water pumps going so early? Is it more of a gasket issue than anything else? I have searched and there does not seem to be any high flow upgrade yet. If anybody has found an alternative...post it up

Ours went out at 17,000 miles, noticed a puddle under it. Interestingly enough, the front main seal went out at 21,000 miles. Check for rust on the crank behind the balancer as I suspect the dripping WP ate up the crank and wiped out the seal.
Cheers.

Turned the black screw 1/4 turn (until heavy resistance) uncapped radiator still not a drop of coolant. Am I missing something?

I'm glad you showed how easy it is to do, so folks can save some money. A while back someone on this forum was saying that their dealer quoted $1200 to replace the pump, so at say even $100 per hour labor that's still like 10 hours work and $200 the dealer would charge for the part, which in reality is $50 bucks and an hour or two labor max!
