Default If I screwed up I would buy a bumper

After reading and really looking at the location I wanted the winch. I decided that I would try the install if I didn't like it I would buy a bumper. If I liked it I saved to money for the bumper and could use the money elsewhere. Whats the worse that could happen I had to buy a bumper? it was worth the risk as used JK bumpers with hooks and light holes go for around $75. The only risk was the $75 and a few hours of my time. I may still buy a bumper when mine gets damaged but this will give me some time for the price to drop or allow other players in the game.

Cool

Great idea!!! I have been pondering the idea of tearing into my stock bumper to install my Warn 9000, but haven't been able to bring myself to do it. I'm really glad I waited now. I'm doing this! I'm using the lift up-license plate rig as well. Very well done, fellas. I'll post pics of mine when it's finished. Hopefully by the middle - end of December!

Default Knotty maid rubicon

I have the same 2 dr rubicon, did the anti sway bar disconerct get in the way, also can you please post some more pictures, possibly from underneath, maybe without the factory splash guard thing, it comes off very easy, do you kkep it on to keep the winch clean?
thanks for any help you can provide.

No the sway doesn't come into play as a problem. Look back a couple of pages and you'll see mine. You just have to plan it out well and it's clears by and inch and a half.

Here is a link to the Or Fab thread with a similar concept. I like these approaches to winch install. I don't like the looks with the winch in front of the grill.

Followed the directions from the first guy who posted this....with a few variations along the way.

Here we are. I had the WARN winch plate from my TJ. My cuts on the top of the bumper where a little differant. But all in all it worked.
Sorry not sure how to post so you don't have to open the link.

Came out better than I was expecting. Turning it into a stubby is still another story.
