That is an awesome idea!

Even if Mark's not ready, the idea of doing an axle swap... I pay someone $XXX dollars, and they take some of their own and buy some sexy awesome RCV axles and everybody wins.

I like your thinking

Well, considering you're running 5.13s on a D30, there could be possibility of damage to R&P (again, not saying there is, but definitely worth checking). If you are close enough to where you'll need to do a differential fluid change, I'd take the extra few minutes to pop the cover off the diff. and inspect the R&P for any damage. Once you put the new shaft back on, you'll have to refill the differential fluid anyway. There's a change, but probably not likely since the u-joint is the weak link in the current case, so that's what gave in your situation.

Like I said, I'm not a 100%, but I think he was going to be doing something with his front axle. He's waiting on SLC to get back with him once all the parts are in - so definitely give Mark a call and check. It may end up being a win-win situation for everyone

Yeah, not much in the for sale section.

Honestly, I don't know how I feel about buying used from just anyone. I'd hate to try and save a couple of bucks to end up having them break because they were abused.

Thats why buying from someone I know (or just buying new) is really appealing to me. I'll have to hit up Mark when he comes back online and see what his plans are.

Thanks Manoj for all the help!

EDIT:

I updated my signature

Love the new signature Jason . But I know what you mean about buying used stuff, especially without knowing the people you buy them from. If nothing else, hit up Quadratec on here or give David @ Northridge4x4 a call and see what he might have. If you end up just replacing the outer shaft, it might not be all that bad, and you can do the inner at a later time when budget permits.

next on the mod list is a auto pilot button . glad you made it home ok. we went back out and pulled another car out , helped push a kia out of a gas station drive and then winched a car from a deep ditch at the end of the 81'st exit ramp.

Tire question

What air pressure is everyone running in the snow? I lowered from 34 to 30 just to get a little better traction. Plus the higher pressure was beating me to death on the snow packed roads.

Can I get by with an even lower pressure while still operating at highway speeds?

Awesome Thanks man

I am still figuring out what I am going to order, but after I get all that figured out I'll put a time frame together and we can do a get together.

Manoj offered for me to join them in Stillwater for their Mod Party, but I just don't know how I feel about driving it, even if I did remove the broken shaft.

Perhaps we can do a Tulsa area mod party

Just for reference, I normally run mine at 30 PSI. As for how low you can go... I'm not sure.
