Moving it away is a great idea but the drive shaft will still need to be replaced if the lift is over 3" or it will fail because of the angle in a short time.
I read that post as well, it was the exhaust he didnt like, not the crossover. A 3-4 actual inch lift will effect the life of the shaft, but not drastically like everyone makes it seem. I have 4k on my lift right now with no signs of wear.

If you ever plan on buying RROR skid plates dont do that, the engine skid will not clear the muffler.

Picture wasnt meant to show the clearance but you can kinda see.

i think i'll just get the aFe pipe and be done with it. i am hoping it doesn't change the exhaust note or performance much.

well, if they really did say this, i think you need to ask yourself, is this really a good idea? i mean, you will effectively be making the exhaust crossover the lowest point along the belly of your jeep making it a HUGE rock target and just so that you can clear your front drive shaft? i don't know, maybe it's just me but, that sounds like a terrible idea.

this is a shot i took of the front output shaft on a jk with their kit installed. please note, this was not even at a full droop...

trust me, the shaft was pinching the cv boot and was making full contact at the base of the collar. even at ride height, the angle of the shaft was significant enough to cause the cv boot to be pinching and from experience, i can tell you that it's just a matter of time before the boot fails. but hey, you don't need to take my word for it. after all, what do i know.

I dont think thats what anyone is saying, although I dont think anyone with a 2012 and a 3.5" lift should be worried about the DS failing at this point. I agree on recommending a front DS, at some point, but not a rush or dont drive it til you get it.

yeah, i remember people saying the same thing about the rear drive shaft on a 2 door back when the JK first came out. while they didn't fail immediately, most started to blow within a few months to a year depending on lift height and how often the jeep was wheeled. but hey, what do i know
