do you lose any ground clearance with the brackets?

 

I would rather save the $10 and not have to go out and find an extra bolt by buying the Rough Country kit, but I don't see where it says it works with the 2.5" lift. I am looking at their site http://www.roughcountry.com/jeep-jk-...tion_1106.html and am not seeing what you are looking at. Can you show me where you found that?

I just installed the AEV brackets Wed night. I had the same issue on mine with the passenger side top bolt. I ended up removing the bolt from the axle end of the upper passenger arm to be able to get a little bit of rotation and angle to be able to sneak that dumb bolt out. I used a short 2 by 4 to pry the exhaust over. It sucked really bad. I really didn't want to disassemble any of the exhaust. Anyway, it was worth it. The jeep steers and handles sooooo much better. Makes my 10ply tires tolerable on rough roads. I have a Teraflex 2.5 in budget boost with shock adapters, 285/70-17 tires with spidertrax spacers. Before I ordered I read the install instuctions to see if the kit would work with my setup. My measurement from the frame to the spring seat was 5.5" which is the minimum they recommend. Best $116 spent on my jeep. Yes you do loose some ground clearance where the lower arms attach to the frame. I can deal with that the few times that I cross over downed trees on the trails. It ends up dropping the arms about even with the skid plates underneath.

This is the bolt and exhaust that is horrible! I was so afraid I was going to break something prying that hard.



I tried to capture the difference in angle of the arms and clearance. The far drop bracket has been installed and the close arm has not been installed yet.

 

The newest AEV versions have 3 holes for the upper control arms. 1 for 4.5, 1 for 3.5 and 1 for 2.5. AEV just came out with a 2.5 coil lift and they put the higher hole for it and other 2.5 lifts. The brackets are not included but recommended for their new lift.

yeah I know the AEV one has the 3 holes and would work, but we were trying to figure out if the Rough Country kit would work for the 2.5" lift as well.

 

take you stock scissor jack and place it between the frame and cat. open it up until you can get the bolt out. put on brackets, install bolt take out jack. pretty easy. I used a screw driver to turn the scissor jack screw.

 

Not a bad idea! I was too worried damaging the exhaust manifolds by over stressing them.

 

What I did is remove the front bolt to loosen the arm. Once it was hinging on the back bolt, I was able to turn it side to side and the bolt came right out. Hopefully that helps you.

 

How much caster are you running? I've adjusted mine to 6 degrees, took out most of my flightiness feeling, but can't tell if what's left us just the manners of the 37's, or if I need s bit more caster. I'm about 5.75" lifted.
