Not at all. Mine is completely silent. Check that everything is tight, especially the linkage behind the spare tire to the gate.

The AEV swing I tried was hard to open. It seemed like there was a lot of weight still on the gate. The guy said it needed to be adjusted. Is this true?

Default Need Convincing

I did my taxes over the weekend and when done told the wife the final number.. Almost $3k, NICE!! ok, so half of that was because of the new furnace rebate, but still.. So the wife says, "well if we have that much why don't you just get your Tire Carrier??" I think I got whiplash when I heard that. So now becomes the decision.

1. Do I go with the AEV Tire Carrier on my stock bumper with plans to put on the AEV rear bumper in the next year or two.

or

2. do I go with a cheaper combo package (tire/bumper) like the Smittybilt or similar

I really like the fact the AEV works with the tailgate and if I could find a combo for under $900 I would go that route, but haven't seen anything..

What does everyone think? ?

I'm biased, but I say go for the well engineered AEV carrier and deal with the bumper later. You can probably conclude in this thread that the AEV carrier is a superior and easy to use design than some of the others out there. If you are in and out of the cargo area frequently, get he AEV carrier.

I've looked at all the video, its just hard to go with the AEV for the price. I was looking at the M.O.R.E. as another option..
