Does the tire sit at the original height or higher? I'm just going to put a 35" tire on it and still want to see out my rear window. If it was adjustable height that would be cool

Your tire isn't off center? That's one reason I didn't want it. I like center. Is this adjustable?

Oh I see others have the same question and it doesn't look to be adjustable. Oh well if I get this mount then I will be mod'ing it to lower and center it.

I wonder if it can be modified to carry gas cans the same way the OR Fab does.
The AEV seems to be much better mounted (frame instead of body) and should stand the weight better.

I like how the OR Fab holds the cans behind the wheel protecting them. However also read about some problems about too much weight on the body causing problems so I held off buying one.

But if the AEV can hold gas cans that same way, it will be my choice.

Just got mine and using with the stock bumper. Like already stated, the spare sits off center a bit and higher. Not adjustable... At least not easily. Doesn't really bother me. To use with the stock bumper, you gave to trim a little on the inside ofnthe bumper and then cut a hole on top for the spindle. It is solid. I'm digging it. You can easily add the aev rear bumper to it later if you want to.

I saw someone asking about the lug nut lights for a 3rd brake light. I have them and cannot say enough good about them. I have had several jeeps with several aftermarket tire carriers and have always struggled with the CHMSL. I've had the stock light remounted on the aftermarket swing and a 2" round light in the center hole of the wheel. The things I didn't like about those 2 solutions:

remounted stocker - the aftermarket carrier raises the tire a bit and reduces visibility...putting on the stock CHMSL reduces visibility still further by putting another view-blocker even higher than the spare.

Light in wheel hole...usually, this is mounted to the tire carrier behind the wheel (mine was). Lifting the spare into position to mount it is difficult as the tire is heavy, and it is hard to control well. I have had the center light smashed twice (once by me and once by the tire store) while remounting the spare.

This time I went with the lug nut lights and feel I have finally reached the best solution. Just unplug them before removing the spare and pop them out. They are also very bright and in my opinion, look very clean.

They are made by Delta and Quadratec sells them...$35.

I am not a salesman or rep for Quadratec or Delta...just like it pass on when I get an exceptional product.

I am fairly sure the Or-Fab tire carrier mounts with the stock bumper. I like the Or-Fab design better, but I like the mounting location of the AEV....

I'm guessing that since the AEV tire carrier has to be shipped via freight (vs the Mopar being UPS'ed) you're at least getting a lot more weight for the $150 MSRP difference between the two?

For me, the biggest pro for the AEV was that it integrates with the tailgate -- there's no separate latch for the tire carrier.
