Default Best tires for snow + mud

Any suggestions on tires that do very well in both mud and snow? I'm trying to narrow down my options on some 35x12.5 tires that I'll be getting in the next few months and want to get something that does very well in both. For any wheeling I'll be doing with them it will be more mud based vs. any rock crawling. I also need maximum ability in all bad winter weather.

I had been thinking I'd get a M/T tire but some things I've read on here are that certain brands are horrible in the snow. I'd appreciate any input you all can offer!

The DuraTrac is a great suggestion. What size wheels are you planning to running?

Don't DuraTracs only come in a 34 that actually measures to a 33.5 or so?

Good mud and snow tires have very open tread. Makes them self-cleaning as the tire rotates, which is why they grab as they turn.

But, those open tread designs can get really loud. I wonder if Nitto's claim to quieter running with open tread is for real?

The 315/75R16 measures out to 34.8". Close enough in my opinion.

get what ever M/T (mud tire or maximum traction tire) you like and get the center lugs siped.

I've read two conflicting observations in driving in snow:

Wide tread with wide voids clean and don't get clogged with snow which equates to better traction.

I've also ready that smaller voides, a lot of siping, so the snow sticks in there is best because "nothing sticks better to snow than snow."

So which is it? I'm from TX so I just hand my beer to a friend and hammer down in the white stuff.
