I just spoke with customer service at 4wd.com who conferenced me in with a BodyArmor rep. Supposedly they are working on a redesign and promised to ship me a new set of rails when they hit production in a couple of weeks. I can live with that as long as they follow through.

Good luck--they promised to ship me replacements on Sep 4th--never happened. When I called on Sep 11th, Alan in customer service couldn't give me a straight answer when they'd replace mine...just sometime in the next few weeks--they had already promised me that and it didn't happen. I requested an email stating that my rails would be replaced---they never sent me an email.

So, today I called the vendor I ordered them from--he said Body Armor hasn't returned his calls in reference to getting my rails replaced. I told my vendor I wanted to return them. This will hopefully not turn out to be a nightmare as well.

So again, good luck in getting your rails replaced this year. Body Armor has clearly demonstrated to me they are an unreliable company--they talk an excellent talk--but they have failed to follow through on SEVERAL promises they have made. And after two months of waiting, the only thing I have to show for the $500 dollars I paid is two 70lb paperweights.

Sadly (because they do have some decent looking products) I will never do business with Body Armor again. This isn't because the rails didn't fit...things happen...it's because they failed to follow through in correcting the situation. My suggestion ...just a suggestion...would be to consider returning them while you still can--if you wait longer than 30 days from when you received them...and you have nothing in writing stating that your rails will be replaced, I expect you will have difficulty in having a credit card company back you up because of the time elapsed.

Best of luck

send him a PM, he'll hook you up

edit: He is not in customer service. but I'm sure he'll make sure the problem is taken care of.

I sent him a PM several days ago and he has not responded . Though I'd much prefer to have the problem corrected--I'm going to return them before that is no longer an option.

I did ask for an email verification from Alan of what we discussed so I'd have it in writing. I have not received an email.

I'll be calling the vendor again on Monday.

Jamey--I didn't receive a PM from you. Any help you could provide would be great.

Thanks in advance,
Joe

Has anyone ever received a working set of these rails? Was any of this resolved? I was considering picking up a set and now I'm nervous lol.

Default Yeah, 6 week's

My issue was the different finish they had, to my bumpers and winch plate. I went with the majority textured, but they have the smooth (bicycle black). I waited for more than 6 weeks for the exchange.

They are a great step up into the Jeep and the wife likes them. Haven't had a chance to try them out, but thinking about taking it out to Moab in April

Thanks for the reply.

Has anyone tested these off road? Are they strong enough to use a hi-lift on to lift the jeep? Are they strong enough to land on without bending into the rockers?

I finally got a complete set (after 1 year after my initial order) and have used them quite a bit. The rails themselves are rock solid. The issue is with how the rails are mounted. The original design was a frame mount--this is why I went with BodyArmor. The redesign is a body mount. The rails mount basically the same way, and to the same mounting points as the plastic side steps. There are six small bolts in each pinch seam, and three (only) that attach to the underside of the body.

I've run my rails at Crozet and at Rausch Creek multiple times. For the most part, they've done their job. BUT, my drivers side rail has rotated up and into the body slightly--this was caused by a rock making contact with the outside edge of the rail just front of the vehicle center line. The entire rail rotated, bending the pinch seam out, and pull the three body mount bolts down--the underside of my JK's tub is now slightly deformed.

The torque created, due to the weight of the vehicle, when contact is made with the outside of the rail is too much for the three body mounting points--the complete failure of the mounting points would be catastrophic

I would recommend these rails for light to moderate wheeling only--if you plan on running rocks of any size, IMHO, you're risking destroying your tub. I have no problem with BodyArmor and I think they make some great products--the JK rails on the other hand have been a complete fiasco, again, in my opinion. The the rails themselves are as solid as you can get, but THE MOUNTING POINTS CANNOT FULLY SUPPORT THE RAILS. If you want more details, please pm me and I'll give you my phone number.

My plan is to replace my BodyArmor rails with Shrockwork's rails as soon as I can save enough money. Sad though...I do like how the BodyArmor rails look, and the do make a nice step for the family.

Theres alot of rockrails that mount that way, thats why I cant believe people run them and think its a strong mount.
