Brake Upgrades
Those Black Magic brakes are supposed to be the "Be All, End All" of brakes, particularly with the TJ crowd. If you search them over on Jeep forum, you'll find info but the folks that buy them, swear by them.
I lucked out! Buddy with the shop somehow received 2 Mopar MC/booster combos he ordered 8 months ago. I snagged one. Now the big decision will be crown or TF kit to pair with it.
pcmasten - curious, did you replace brake lines with that as well? Seems like my friend with the TF kit used same JK brake lines, which made me think that TF created a caliper that was compatible with the JK lines/banjo bolts whereas the Mopar/Crown kits needed new lines since you were pretty much moving to the Ram 1500 caliper. Maybe I interpreted this wrong though.

Seeing as though it states it's using the "1084" pads, that would indicate it is using the same Dodge 1500 dual calipers, where it seems to be missing the front brake line hoses and booster when comparing it to the Mopar kit. When it was available, I paid $700 for the Mopar BBK. $1100-$700=$400 + $60 (Mopar Booster) + $80 (Mopar Brake Hoses) + $90 (Mopar pads). Total=$630 Essentially when you break it down, Black Magic has figured out a way to charge $630 for a set of their black magic front pads. I seem to be in the wrong line of business.

So, I'm about 24 hrs from pulling trigger one a kit. My only hesitation with the Crown is pcmasten's misalignment experience up in post #55. Ugh. Also, when searching around with the Crown kit's part number RT31046, you then get these RT Off Road guys that are selling the exact same kit as their own, and that is a bit confusing. Searching around a bit on the part number, can find the RT Offroad kit for dang $350 on ebay -

The Crown kit is $434 on QT and $418 on Amazon, and my buddy with a shop said the TF kit could be mine for his cost, but that is still a considerable amount more than these prices. I already have the MC/booster in hand so that is not a concern. dilemmas dilemmas.... $350 sounds good, but sure question it.
EDIT - i just found my answer. RT Offroad is Crown -

2nd EDIT - now following along on the huge thread on the other forum, ugh....my confidence in Crown is diminishing. This might just be one of those things where paying a couple hundy more for the TF is worthwhile. Brakes are sure not an item I want to eff around having problems with.

I just skimmed through the BM kit. It looks just like the Mopar kit minus a couple pieces, at almost twice the price. That must be where the "magic" comes into play.
