Is it bolted to the floor or to the seat itself? Can I get a close up pic of the actual mounting plate (minus extinguisher).

Most of the cheaper extinguishers from Walmart - Lowes have plastic nozzles. Local company will not refill them. Must have brass or aluminum.

Bolted to the seat frame. Basically I just took the hangar that they use for the house, lined it up with the non-moving part of the frame, and put some self tapping screws in, after drilling out some pilot holes. No problem with the door or the seat, but I do hit it with my leg every now and then getting in.

I just picked one up from Walmart for $12

I was searching eBay for them and saw "non-functioning" ones just for show... Why the hell would you buy a fake extinguisher? It would be like buying paper seat belts because they might look cool.

I picked up a Kidde 8 lb ABC at Lowes a while ago - it has an aluminum neck, and is refillable. I have it mounted in a cage set up bolted through my rear inner fender on the pass side. I picked up the cage at a local fire fighter supply store - I'll take a pic and post it up tomorrow.

Until today I had one on my drivers side rear roll bar. I say I had one because I left work at noon and decided to put the top down. While pulling the top over the rear roll bar, I managed to pull the pin and sprayed down my backseat and soft top.

It scared the hell out of me, because I didn't realize what it was at first - all I saw was a big puff of white powder coing out of my Jeep! I managed to shut it off pretty quickly, but it took a while to get all of the powder out of the back. When I put the top back up tonight, there was powder all over it - inside and out.

Looks like I'll be at the car wash tomorrow.

That is just too funny...sorry. Umm...any pics?!? lol I could sooo see myself doing that. I have accepted the mirror dent and the branch scratches, but I can't come to terms with having messy interior seats. I would have been soo pissed!

I have two mounted just behind the front seats on the roll bar. They are chrome so they look good and are mounted in steel brackets they came with.
Bought one at Auto Zone for $59.00 then I bid one off Ebay for $20.00!!!( I hope it works) I Hope to never need them.

I know this is over kill, but this kind of chemical will drown the fire and not destroy your electronics and such, for an auto fire system with an in cab trigger is about 280.00++
Can i post the info if their not a sponser
I will remove the link until I know
FM-200 agent for most applications. FM-200, the most accepted Halon replacement agent on the market today, delivers optimum extinguishing performance in just seconds, operating primarily by removing heat energy from fire and inhibiting combustion. Since the agent is a clean, gaseous vapour, there is no messy cleanup of powder, foam or residue. Thus, sensitive equipment including radar, electronics and the engine itself are not damaged and can be fully operational following its use.

YOU, YOUR BOAT (or jeep ), AND THE ENVIRONMENT
FM-200 is extremely safe for people and equipment. More than 70 industry toxicity tests verify its safe use in occupied areas. FM-200 is recognized as the premier Halon replacement and it enjoys world-wide acceptability and approval. Designed to provide non-toxic and non-corrosive protection, the agent is non-ozone depleting. FM-200 is not subject to any environmental phase-out schedule and the agent has received approvals from environmental authorities around the world.

STEPS TO SELECT THE CORRECT SYSTEM
• Determine the volume of the engine compartment to be protected.
• select the model that meets or exceeds the calculated volume of the engine compartment. Up to 6.8 m3 there is a choice of either an FG or FD cylinder. FG are lighter Aluminum cylinders that are not refillable. FD are steel cylinders that are refillable in the event of a discharge.
• Select an automatic 'A' designation or manual/automatic 'M' designation. A man/auto cylinder needs a cable for manual activation. See Accessories page.
• We strongly recommend that all diesel engined boats should fit an automatic engine shutdown system to avoid the FM200 being dispersed.
