Hey guys,

don't have this yet, still whether I want it or not......maybe a dumb question, but why does Hypertech keep doing updates for the programmer? is it really going to change the performance of our JK's that much by continually updating it. If I get this, I would think I would just leave it. Remember this is a generic mail order tune, it is not case specific, so how much difference will it make.

Personally, if I would rather use the programmer once, get it dyno tuned for my vehicle, and forget it...... as long as the programmer has the capability to do fine tuning. air fuel timing etc...

Has anyone dyno tuned their JK with this?

Having them put out outdates is a huge selling point.. It means they continue to work on it and always improving it to make it better and therefor sell more. Those non upgradeable ones, your stuck withwhatever shipped on it. To me, this is a HUGE feature of the Hypertech, and part of the reason i spent what I did for mine...

I understand they want to continue to improve the capability, but I just don't think that the gains are really worth it to keep changing the settings IMO.......

To each there own a I guess.. The couple minutes it takes to do new settings seems well worth it to me if the updates are good...

If your happy with where yours currently is, just leave it then... no need to worry...

But think about it like this, do you update Windows when it comes out with a new patch?

I wonder what improvements they made. Mines doing a good job right now. I updated last fall. Things are running so well I'm just curious what changes were made.

I updated mine after I got it last fall and absolutely love it. It woke that 3.8 up like it hadnt even been there. Money well spent. Havent checked for updates lately, probably should, but am happy with how it is performing soIll look to see what was included in any recent updates and make a decision. Just like I do with Windows updates I guess.
Ive been lucky so far, no error codes like others have talked about.

I here yeah rel1203.....I have a lot of experience with tuning my Cobra and past stangs. Once I get it tuned, I leave it, unless I change supporting mods that would require further tuning, but again these are HO engines that require fine tuning.

I don't have the programmer yet, but am thinking I will eventually. I am just being objective, as tuning the 3.8 JK for performance is kind of funny, we are driving a brick down the road, and I don't think new updates will change the performance that much. I have seen too many mail order tunes go bad, (on Mustangs & Camaros resulting in blown engines) as each engine runs different. I would prefer to dyno tune it case specific and leave it. Conitually changing software is not worth it, specially when they are still on warranty.

I am a member of the vented block club in a lightning, that had a supposed mail order tune...good thing the owner/buddy was in the passenger seat.
