This may be a dumb qustion... how do you ground the purple wire for that second?

This doesn't sound as plug and play as originally seemed. Maybe because of different sellers.

I bought 2ea from ebay, I installed one in my auto with absolutely no problems! The second was going to go in my new jeep once I take delivery which is a manual (where there's a will there's a way)...after more thoughts and concerns with multiple drivers the risk doesn't out weigh the reward. So all that said I've got one for sale if anyone is interested? Turbo electronics was the ebay seller and they were $99 a piece.

Since I still have the dash pieces off I just stripped off some of the insulation on the purple/white wire and touched it to the vertical bare metal bracket on the right side of the steering column that woukd be just behind that first panel that you take off for access .

Here is the bracket I grounded the wire to. I also zip tied it there. So far so good, no alarm when starting.

Can you give me more info on this? What model viper can work with a manual trans? Where would be the cheapest place to buy one? And how exactly does it work? Ill obviously research it a good bit before deciding whether or not to buy it, but I'd appreciate another jeeper's insight.

Kmcq13 on the page before this one gave the sequence that his used on the manual remote start. They use sequences like that as a fail safe so that it can't be started in gear. Go to best buy or local car audio place that does alarms and they can give you the info on which model. Best but for sure sales the viper ones that's why I said them but depends on how good your best but is there if you want them to install it or not. Usually their price shown is the starting price including installation. That's if they don't have to put in bypasses and all that.

You can also go just remote start or remote start/alarm. I personally recommend the remote start and alarm as it's a way better alarm that has 2 way communication so it lets you know when something is wrong (as long as you are in range, which is a pretty large range). The sensitivity can be adjusted so for instance mine is set pretty sensitive so I barely bump my jeep and the warn away feature kicks in (like a mini alarm) or alarm goes off. Like mine kind if sensitive especially with top and doors off cause if they are going to steal something they are still going to set it off and it alerts my keychain letting me know something is going on.

They also have modules that can be added to the vipers (and others) that allow you to operate it with an app on your phone. You can start it from anywhere.

I think predator makes some really good ones also.
