Rugged Ridge Mirror Relocation Bracket Install
No feelings hurt, just wanted to give the story... We may be looking into a Gen II version in the the next year... Got to see what becomes of the mirrors for 2012 first. Maybe we can look at it again and address these complaints. We have added two other engineers and have better CAD than we did back in 2006.
Good luck with the redesign - I'm looking forward to seeing what you come up with!
All right, Rugged Ridge. So I've been thinking about this and running without doors for a few days (and thus without the passenger side mirror), and I decided to give it another shot. I installed the passenger side bracket again, but then I fiddled with the placement of the mirror quite a bit before I tightened it down. I think I found a sweet spot where I can use about 70% or more of the mirror. I'm going to drive it for a week and see how it goes.

I too am in the camp that had a muther of a time getting the mirror seperated from the bracket. Used a hammer and 2" screw I had laying around. Lots of white corrosion.
One thing I'll add that hasn't already been mentioned, once you start seeing the mirror begin to seperate, especially the spot where it looks like you can get a flat-head screw driver leveraged to pry on at the top of the base bracket, back off on the hammer (I'd post a pic if I could, but it was late when I finished up).
I actually shot mine out of the bracket a bit, and in the scramble to catch the mirror, I scratched my door paint.
Nothing serious, just a little clear coat scrub, but I won't be putting this back together again. I'll pick up a spare mirror when winter rolls back around... I knew this was going to be a bear (based on prior posts), I'm just glad it's over and I can finally go doorless

I just had to get a picture of the screw I used to drive the mirror from the mount (more like a 3" screw)... I had to use a good amount of force. You can see how bent it got when all was said and done...
I had absolutly no problems with my install took about 20 minutes. I too found a sweet spot and am getting about 70 percent veiw of the passenger side mirror .
BTW in about a week after the install I would suggest that you recheck screws for they can work loose. See pics above if wanting to see my install.
