Mine is dented and bare metal now too. Even with the tape on I'd have the dent..... What if anything are Tuffy as a company planning on doing to resolve this? (and I'm talking about customers that have experienced the problem not future fixes that don't help us that have this problem.) While I have no question about the quality of your parts I can't believe something like this was overlooked and then further "solved" with a piece of tape.

Again, the slick tape had nothing to do with attempting to prevent a dent. We just double checked our JK and there is no dent from the Cubby Cover. If some of you are having issues, we need to find out what the difference is between yours and ours. Please call us at 1-800-348-8339.

Thanks

I don't understand why you need this "lockable" storage cover. The stock cover can't be opened when the swing gate is shut. If you lock your swing gate, you lock your cover. What am I missing? It seems like a waste of money.

For me it was 2 reasons: more resistant to weight placed on it, and allows me to "over stuff" the cubby and then lock the cover in place (so it doesn't pop up). I also find that it gives you a little more room, being thinner and a little higher than the original.

I must give it to Tuffy for actively searching these threads for problems with their products and for the way they have been answering your concerns. I'm still waiting on my jk, but once I do get it I'll be seriously looking to Tuffy for products for their proactive involement with customers.

I can't speak for the cubby but I can say there security console insert is awsome. Very clean fit and the vinyl padding on the top is way better than stock. The cubby is in my future when I find out whats going on with the dent. The reason I want one is I have my 20lbs CO2 tank mounted on the fiber factory one. Steel would just be a nicer fit for it.

Right, and for those of us that are planning on Rhino lining the interior - the steel cover is a much better base for that than the stock cover. Scratch/tape issue is frustrating though and is a design flaw no matter the spin that Tuffy puts on the fabulous tape solution. But, like others, I do give Tuffy credit for responding in this thread.

They just made it too big... I would get a grinder and cut it back a smidge. And re-tape etc. or plastic edging.. Your right.. "TUFFY" screwed up..!!! But I bet they won't re-tool the production to get it right...!!
