As was wisely mentioned previously, I don't see gears being restricted anytime soon.
Unfortunately, we are always just a high-profile-killing away from another (stricter) AW ban.

I'd like to stress the "good quality" part of this quote. I've been working at a gunshop (part time) the past few years and I can tell you not all ARs are created equal. Buy quality and only cry once.

 

Since I just joined the AR club yesterday, I have to vote for the AR as well. Your jeep may be sluggish, but you will need something to shoot with from your jeep when the zombies do attack.
