If it's something you just GOTTA do, the simplest way will probably be an electric conversionfrom the old vacuum style wiper. There are several companies that offer it. the motor is compact, and it comes with all the wiring because it is replacing a vacuum operated wiper system. Here's a nice article on an old M37. I'm sure you could make something like that work on the inside.

What about mounting the wiper on the side of the windshield? it would have less curve, and it would be easier to angle with the window?

If this doesnt make sense then I can draw it up and post it that way..

Hmm, just a thought, but take a look at some OLD BRONCOs... perhaps you can do an interior rig like they have... where the wipers are mounted on the top of the windshield... Don't have to worry about making room in dash that way.

Only a true jeep guy would even consider doing something like this.... making modifications/adaptations based on a real necessity.

My hats off to you friend!!!!

Some suggestions:

There are universal wiper kits available for boats that might be adaptable for mounting overhead

SO... I want to rig a wiper motor on the inside of my windshield. I also want to rig a channel to catch and divert the water that comes off of it to the floor where the drain holes can take over the chore of removing the water.

Has anyone done a project like this? Does anyone know of a good small wiper motor to center this project around?
you could always mount a set of manual wipers off of a CJ-2A...

doesnt relly help with getting rid of the water, but at least wipes it clean.

Along the same lines, you can buy this hand wiper for less than $25 at JC Whitney. A few mods and it could be mounted inside.

drove home from work today in the rain. the last half of the ride, i got to thinking about the same subject. i was going to post the exact same thread, so im glad i searched!

i had the front freedom panels on and doors off. left shoulder got a little wet. had a couple drips down my neck off the freedom panel after sitting at a light.

didnt bother me.

but the inside of the freaking windshield was horrible!

has anyone implemented this mod?
