I also picked up a room down there for $60 a night! I plan on leaving tuesday after work about 4 and heading down 8 hours to get there. Can't wait!!!!:toung: :toung:

Howdy folks.

So - took my top off yesterday, 'cause it was a gorgeous day... left it off all night, expecting some nice warm weather early this AM... then woke up and it was 45 outside (I go to work early). Brrrrrr....

I threw on a winter hat and a big fleece jacket, and "suffered" on the ride in. But you know what? It's worth it - I drive a very rural back-route into work, and there's nothing like the awesome "fresh" smell of morning dew on farmer's fields early in the morning, with the sun rising up over the horizon... it was "postcard pretty," but chilly!

Anyone else go topless this AM?

I did sort of.... Left a friends house about 3:30 am. It's happened a few times where I get caught in 50 and under temps. Wear a wind breaker, Turn the heat up on your feet and you will be fine. Now If your doors are off too, the heat has to be on your face so you can put your sleeve around a vent and get a nice cross heat warmth going.

Funny you mention that - I've found the same: As long as you have the doors on, you're good to go using just a little heat from the footwell (which of course travels upward and alongside the doors).

On the other hand, like you said, if the doors are off you're pretty much SOL - a week or two ago, I was running doors-off and there was a really cold morning. My windbreaker/fleece, hat, and sunglasses didn't do much to protect me there... but were better than nothing. But: If it's really chilly and you're running doors-off, I would strongly recommend to anyone that they carry a good set of gloves in the glovebox (duh) or in the center console... that's the area that got windburnt on me awhile back.

Having said all that, it sounds like I'm bitching, but I'm not: I friggin' LOVE this Jeep, and am so glad I bought it. Now, if only I could convince my wife that
1) it's OK to ride around and have her hair get all messed up by the wind, and
2) my Jeep NEEDS a lift and some upgrades...

... then I'd be golden! Hope you all are loving your Jeeps - any further word on cool trails/spots around CT?

Hi guys ...It seems like Jantarek is the man when it comes to the trails.

Hey MJS correct me if I'm wrong but....Weren't you and your lady the ones that were going topless in Feb.???? 45' should be a cake walk man

By the way, pay no attention to my grosely oversized sig line. It's only gonna be like this for a couple of days.
I'm just tryin' to make a point in another thread, and if I could only change it there it would make me feel better, but alas I can not.

Hey fellow CT folk, when I eventually get my JK, are front license plates absolutely necessary? I've only lived here for 2 yrs so still not 100% sure, I see some with and some with out.

I want to get something like this for the front:

LOL! Compared to February, 45 IS a walk in the park... but that's not to say that it's "comfortable." In all seriousness, I was looking for some way to ride in "cool" weather without having to blast the heater (which you'd better believe we were doing in Feb!). Best solution(s) so far are to 1) Man up, and bear it, and optionally, 2) ride old-timey-style (think back to the days of "motor coaches"); i.e., wear a coat, hat, and gloves.

To answer your question Z-Man, the law says you have to drive with front plates, but I still see a LOT of folks disobeying that law... And, awhile back I lived in a pretty crime-heavy part of CT, and found an acceptable way around the law: Take the plate with your registration sticker and put it up in your rear windshield, and put your front plate in back (where the reg-sticker plate would normally go). The reason is that some people were going around swiping plates with reg stickers to put on stolen cars... But this approach won't work on a Jeep, unless you've got the rear window on all the time.

I don't use a front plate. When I got hit by a drunk in my old car it tore the plate in half and I never bothered to get a new plate. I have been pulled over twice and never questioned.
