Chrysler said D status, I guess that could be firm schedule, or 1 gateline schedule. They couldn't let me know.

Sorry to hear that - my experience with the Chrysler reps has been that they give out slightly different versions of the productions codes than those posted in the "check your status" thread... for example, when they told me that my dealer had received my vehicle, I asked what status code they showed... they said "X". I asked, oh, do you mean "KZX" and the rep said yes...

I'm guessing that with the current production bottleneck, they're having some troubles tracking each daily batch that'll run through the plant... probably organizing and grouping orders by option packages at this point, to do the job most efficiently or something.

In any case, sorry to hear about the added wait time - I'm feeling your pain.

When the time comes that you folks get your Jeeps, I found (in another thread) a link to a site that talks about "Proper engine break-in" that I'm sure you will find quite intresting...I know I did.

I also found this interesting, but given the problems that the JK seems to give ~4% of its owners, I wouldn't want to tempt fate. Clear something up for me, sort of on-topic: We've all heard the expression "drive it like you stole it." I've seen many posts on this board that recommend that exact approach for break in... however:

I've seen posts where the context of this saying implies that you baby the car - I've also seen posts where the context of the saying implies that you beat it like it stole from you... so, I've seen it used both ways. What the hell is "drive it like you stole it" SUPPOSED to mean?

It means Drive it hard. As fast as you can.
Give it full throttle and don't look back.

Think about it....If you were gonna steal a car or any vehicle for that matter, would you drive it away from the scene slow and easy...
or would you put the pedal to the metal and get the hell out of there as fast as you could, leaving them with no chance to catch you????
That's what their talking about.

When it comes to breaking the engine in, I was told a long time ago, just drive it the way you normally would...within reason.
Don't go spinnin' the tires the first time you hop in the vehicle.
But you don't have to drive like grandma either....Actually,now that I think of it, grandma is a bad example because my grandma had a lead foot I swear the song "The little old lady from Pasadena" was written about her

Like it said in the article "it's a very controversial issue". And it really is.
To me the article makes sence, so I agree with it.
But when it comes right down to it, I'm not trying to tell anyone how to break their engine in. I'm just offerin' up other options. And which ever one you feel the most comfortable with...go for it.

I'm going to drive it like I bought it . I don't put any unnecessary stress on the vehicle. I keep it under 65mph, and don't wind it out in any of the other gears. Bikes on the other hand I always ride hard.
What oil are you guys going to use in your new vehicles

In "F" STATUS today

I've had my RPMs up to 5-grand (5200 is red line) a number of times. Only while getting up to highway speeds of course. Bad part is that you can practically watch the fuel guage slowly drop while doing this. My wallet was begging me to slow down.
My vehicle runs like a champ! I love it As soon as I hit the one thousand mile mark, I'll do my first oil change. As for the type of oil and the brand of filter I'm gonna use...I haven't given it much thought yet. I'll have to decide pretty soon, because I only have about 250 miles more to go. I have played with the thought of bringing it to the dealer for it's first few oil changes, but nothings writen in stone at the moment.

I'll let Y'all know when I figure it out.

Congrats on the "F" status Clubber. You'll be sitting in it in no time, as long as you didn't buy it from Crowleys Poor 888, man I feel bad for that dude and his wife.

Hey there dkooz! welcome to the thread.
