Wink

Howdy boys -

Here's the latest - went from being told yesterday that it'd be at least a week or more until I get delivery, to getting a call today that it's there. Obviously it's great that it's there, but how do you go from one extreme to the other like that? More info in this thread:

Wish me luck - hoping to pick her up tonight, but not going to hold my breath.

Feels great - totally worth the wait. It's a HUGE difference from my WRX - it's gonna take some getting used to!

Once I had the keys in hand, I let the salesman know that he f-ed up royally, and that I thought he did a really sh-tty job... his response was a stumbling, bumbling "I'm new... and it's not my fault - they [the managers?] gave me the wrong information." Typical BS - pass the buck, etc., but I did get him to say he was sorry finally.

Also, got a deal on a Chrysler extended service contract - I have bumper-to-bumper coverage for 7 years now (and already talked to them about mods - they said to basically stick within Jeep's recommendations as far as lift height, etc., and I shouldn't have a problem with service denials). The contract is good at any Chrysler dealership in the US, so I don't have to see Crowley again if I don't want to... and I get free oil changes every 3K for the life of the vehicle, (only at Crowley though, but I made sure that they weren't going to hassle me when I bring it in at 1K for the break-in change).

On the way home from the dealership last night I couldn't resist the urge for a little impromptu wheelin' (very minor - over the curb near my house and up a small snow-covered hill in 2WD) - that was with about 22 miles on the odometer.

One other plus: the ride into work this morning felt like I was driving off to a vacation or something - hard to explain (guess it's the "Jeep thing," eh?) but very cool. Got a couple nods on the highway from TJ's - gotta love it.

I'm a happy boy right now - life is good!

Godspeed to both of yours, Clubber and DKooz - the wait was awful for me (my patience stop growing sometime before my teenage years), but now that I have my JK, I'd have to say it was totally worth it. I know you'll both love yours, so hang in there (and try to be more patient than I was, for your own good!)

Default Yes!

Right On Man!!!!!!
Glad to hear that you finally got your ride.
It's about freakin' time

And that's awsome that you'll be gettin' free oil changes for the LIFE of the vehicle..."WOW" That's great! (in writing I hope) Who cares if it's at Crowlys.
Man, they owe you that and more after the shit they put you through. I'd be there every 3000 like clockwork.
That will end up saving you a bundle of dough through the years.

As I write this, the snow is falling, and I can hear the plow truck outside going down my street, and I'm thinking about how you'll be in your nice new Jeep with
the new car smell sometime later today, (I just got home from work...it's 3:am) in some snow covered empty parking lot or a trail that you may know of,
with the owners manual on the front seat, (Actually I'm single so the front seat was where my owners manual was. Yours will probably be in the hands of your
wife because she'll be in the seat right next to you instead), and you'll be doing doughnuts in two wheel drive, and testing out the four wheel drive (high and low),
to make sure it works and also see what it feels like.
Hell! you're probably out there right now while I'm typing this.

You are now under the spell of the JK....
Be prepaired...you'll find yourself doing some strange shit that you normally wouldn't even think of doing, for example....
In the pats, how often have you sat in a vehicle, in the winter, in your own driveway with the heat on, engine running and listening to the radio,
not because your waiting on someone, but just because you actually enjoy sitting there listening to the radio????

Watch...you'll see. If you haven't done this yet, you will.

As a matter of fact...ya' know how a moment ago I said that I got home from work at 3:am? Well actually I got home from work about 45min before that.
3:am was the time I turned off the engine and decided to head into the house.

HAVE FUN!!!

CHOPPER

LOL - you got it pretty much dead-on, Chopper. Last night (~9 PM), on my drive home from college (should've gone straight out of HS - it's hard when you're older!), I got the first chance to put her in 4WD... handled like a champ, and 2WD wasn't much worse... had a little fun kicking the back end around on the backroads. The only sh1tty part was when I accidentally dropped the TCase clutch into Neutral and thought I was in 4LO... revved the engine, and because it didn't do anything, I was afraid I had busted something. Anyhow, eventually figured out that I was being a dumbass and got it into 4LO - awesome.

As far as sitting there listening to the radio, you're right-on again... got home from work yesterday afternoon and must've taken me at least 10 minutes sitting in the driveway before I decided to head inside - great sound system, great seat height, comfortable, etc. - what's not to love?

Here are a couple quick observations: I think the headlights are awesome, ESPECIALLY with the fog lights on... don't know what everyone is complaining about there... Also, anyone that's said that the stock Sahara tires (Goodyears on 17s) suck in the snow: I disagree - they did great in blended snowy-icy sh1t, even in 2WD... as long as you drive REASONABLY, they're VERY capable tires.

I'm hoping to have some "light wheeling" pics to post this weekend, and I'll be sure to link in this thread for you guys. Any suggestions on logging roads, legal dirt trails, etc., around the Farmington/Avon/Simsbury area? Worst case, I'll just have to find a nice snowy hill off the side of a road!

OK Clubber! Looks like Your next. I'm still in D-Firm status, and my salesman didn't return my call. Thats OK because good things cone to those who wait.
I think 888 can attest to that.
