Oh, and the camping is first come first serve for the most common spots. No reservations required!

What does a stock Rubicon JK need done prior to running this trail?
Iv'e heard of people doing it with 33's and open diffs so 32's and lockers should be good enough?

Does one need to make any reservations for camping?
I know the 2 door is different, but I was with Brad, have a 2.5 lift and 35s and I dragged all over the place on that trip. I got you tube video of me getting hung up and Brad having to throw a rock under my tire for me to keep moving. I would suggest at least getting a set of 35s.

BTW... I know where you can get a good used set with rims and a lift that on your rig would be close to 3" for not much coin.

And your lift and wheels/tires on a 2-door would probably be all he needs. Good suggestion. We could even do a work party to throw everything on if he provided the food. I'd volunteer my house and expertise. A short arm lift is an easy half day job! I've done several of them...

Default Thanks guys

I've got a 4 door Rubicon. Its was the only way to ad a Jeep with my growing family.
My 2 door TJ is long gone. Given that we just got the Jeep if I throw away 1200 in tires that are on it now to buy 35's my wife will castrate me.

If folks are heading up soon maybe I could go just to check it out and ride to Little Sluice (or some other spot) and turn around.

I believe so. I will try to catch everyone on a day run the 19th of July.

If you are pretty well built and not afraid to drive at a faster pace, you are welcome to tag along with me.

Do the two groups above have a set camping spot for the night of the 18th? I'd like to catch you and have lunch with your groups before turning around and heading back!

I can probably make an in and out to Buck island or closer without problems. I am also willing to work back and forth to the springs if need be but will need to be with a small group so we can keep a strong pace.

Let me know the details and I'll make it work. It looks like the 19th is the day I'll schedule to be there!

BKGM,

We were planning on running July 13-17 but have read on another board that the trail out to Tahoe is really still not safe, possibly needing a little more time after those dates. Also, I have heard the water levels at the crossings are deep. What have you heard or seen?

There aren't any deep water crossings on the Rubicon. Stock jeeps without doors could get wet in two spots but that's not a problem.

The temps are in the 80 range so things should be ok in two weeks.

We are in for the 18th and 19th. I cant wait, does the trail look like we can run with no doors and not worry about drowning our jeep's interior.
