I think I fall into the "Poser" catogory, and I justify it in my mind for alot of reasons. I grew up in a large family where, looking back, there wasn't alot to go around and being the oldest there were no "hand me downs. Just a pile of parts on the end to build what you could. New things were few and far between. And like most of us on here I have had to work hard for the things I have and still get a tear in the corner of my eye for every little scratch. I think I have a nice jeep and I have done most of the work myself with the exception of the initial lift and gears. I have been on runs with iwaxmyjimmy and watched him take his rig with 32's where I didn't take mine with 37's. This young man is fun to be around and I would wheel with him again anytime. I know if you met this young man in person you would like him. Couldn't say the same for me though..

Well having fabbed on pre runners race trucks and countless track cars and stuff over ALOT of years jeep owners are definently some of the coolest to do work for.....a little anal sometimes but its their money and I understand.
Some will, some won't but I really like building other peoples rigs regardless if they use it. It is super cool to see people get excited about accomplishment and mods......

In the end its a jeep thing regardless of if its a cj, tj, yj, jk or 2dr/4dr its still a wrangler and a jeep.

Oh Chuck, I wasn't talking about guys like you because you do actually wheel your rig. I still think you are the best spotter I've come in contact with from either coast. Its mainly the web wheelers that talk trash on people who do anything out of the trends of the era that is annoying as hell. I like to think outside the box, and have done a lot of experiments with my jeep, other jeeps, buggies, and a host of other rigs alike. But my God there are some band wagon folk on here.

And Chuck I'm waiting for a ride in your rig with the charger on it. One of the last
Calico runs I went on with Dan, he was telling me about it.

Thanks for the kind words.. I've been going slow the last few, getting ready to take my 72yr old uncle on the Rubicon next month. He has always wanted to go. Oh, and he is buying the Jack Daniels!
Always room in my rig for test ride for ya.

OP, Just curious, what things do you consider trendy? You have mentioned it a couple times and Id like to hear what set this thread in motion.

So I was trying to find the stock travel of the steering stabilizer and get one alot cheaper than the valved for JK's over priced crap. And I stumbled upon a thread by the wayoflife dude (or for the forum d-bags who love using acronyms for everything "WOL") complaining about how he wanted to set the record straight that a steering stabilizer isn't to correct death wobble. So I started reading the replies and pretty much saw amateur porn of people all over this dude. And I thought about to the dude who told me if I took my rear sway bar off my jeep would do a barrel roll (by the way still haven't done that even with both disconnected going down the highway at 55 mph, crazy aint it). I see a post were a guy asked if regearing will cause his 12' to shift funny and go into limp mode. I got annoyed because I know I rarely post up here because I have been busy as hell lately, and I have seen that question answered a million times. Like wow dude stop being lazy and just research something and figure out what all you can do. Knowledge is power, granted I'm not chitting rainbows and orange shurbert, but damn. I feel like almost every jeep trip I've been on people think I'm some dumbass trying to hang with the big boys with my stock 32 rubi tires. But I'm climbing up obsticles without lockers, when they are much more built than I and need a spot and their lockers on, for them to even think about attempting it. Like seriously I almost feel ashamed to say I have a JK because these posers/web wheelers/followers make everyone who owns a JK seem like a douche bag. I'm not going to sell mine, but jesus H christ, I needed to vent that lol btw I had some dude try and asked for a parts list of my suspension... its in my focking signature retard.... like holy chit stop being lazy people.
Wow...I have heard plenty of people use "like" as a filler but i think you rae hte first one i have seen who actually typed it out.

To me who cares what people do with their Jeeps. If you want to put 37", full ton axles, hemi swap, flat fenders and only drive to and from work, who cares. Have fun and do what you want to with your Jeep which is part of the fun of owning one.

Also remember that even though you come across as someone who knows everything about Jeeps and how to wheel, you were a newbie once too and sometimes asking a question directly makes it easier to find the answer you are looking for rather than searching when you are not quite sure if the search result is the answer to your specific question.

Quit worrying about what others think when you are out wheeling and have fun because it seems like you are missing the point of going off road.

I read all the post. Can't believe anyone can get worked up over something that ultimately isn't that big a deal. I don't wheel to see what the next guy has or does to his ride. I wheel cause I like spending time with my friends and family. The journeys, stories and memories.. The freedom.. The beer (sorry, I'm an alcoholic so I had to throw that in). These forums has a lot of info I may never find useful or even care to read about, but they (the forums) did allow me to meet people whom I now consider family (Wayne, Mark, Candy, Eric) and who share the same interest (along with those forum members who were already family, like Jose and eddie). I guess in the end, my point is.. It's ok to vent and rant every now and then, but at the end of the day- reflect on why u like wheeling.. Not on what pisses u off about it. and jeep wave.

I must confess...I am a poser. I bought a bunch of useless crap for my Jeep. I never take my Jeep off-road, and even if I did, my driving skills are incredibly poor, because I don't run a stock rig. I am compensating for something, which I prefer not to mention. Did I miss anything? Oh yes, and the clear and convincing evidence that all I am is a poser: All offered in fun - you all have a great day!
