What would you like in a snorkel design?
The nice thing about the RR snorkel is the ability to change height (the posted sketches). I am not a big snorkel fan due to looks and cutting of sheet metal, but having the ability to change it to fit the situation is a big plus for me.
I understand... Hope to have an image for you by the end of the week. There is progress but development does take time. As noted we are and have been also working on a lot of other products... If you look at the scope of new products being released this year I think we do pretty good.

Ok, this thread actually got me to sign up for this forum. I would have got around to it eventually anyway but this thread got me so captured I actually sat down and read the whole thing all at once. Anyway I like where this is going but i will admit the Wild Boar Snorkel looks pretty good. RR this is your chance to really shine. I understand there are other products slowing you guys down but I think this should be at the top of the get r' done list. The placement of the snorkel is awsome, now the trick will be having an interchangalble high low option with the ability to go back to stock. What will be the big seller right next to proper function will be paintability or color keyed from order along with styling to go with the lines of the Jeep. I think the closer to an OEM look is best. Need to show the CEO this thread. You realize that you will sell a large percentage of these to JK owners that will never ever use it but would like a CAI, myself included. I don't plan on ever getting deep enough to use it but I want it just in case. Is it ready yet, is it ready yet, is it ready yet. lol.....

Been testing water entry ... Duplicating heavy, heavy, heavy rain coming at the intake with a killer crosswind... Keeping the water at bay is the next level of testing.
Different issues need to be looked at with the low mount. It's a level of complexity that the high mount does not have to deal with as much. Sticking a vacuum cleaner on the cowl of the JK has its hurtels..
I will post some images but after todays testing it might be modified and have a different look in a week or so.

Ok, here's an idea. Make it just like the sketch but forget routing it to the airbox. Do a straight inline intake to the throttle body with an inline filter Here's a link for an idea. ht tp://prmracing.com It may cost more but you could advertise it as a snorkel and a true CAI. A tube with a filter straight to the throttle body would also be the shortest distance as far as air flow. I don't care what the cost is because I would be buying a snorkel and a high performance CAI system. Now you would be able to use the Factory Airbox space to install a cool air compressor or some custom RR accessory to take up the old air box space.

Here are a couple of images.. please note that we are still working with the low mount intake system. Wet weather testing is being conducted. This is not the final version but a mid-point evolution.
It is set high for development reasons.
