Default Light bar/Snorkel Combo?

I was thinking it would be interesting if you could turn the light bar into a snorkel. It's a hollow pipe, and it's definitely going to be above the water line.

I'm not sure how realistic that would be, but I think it would be kinda cool myself.

Any chance it can be detachable or plugged/capped when not is use? For those of us not running in water on a regular basis. I"ve only been hardcore wheeling twice and neither time should there have been water. But guess what??? Nothing like seeing a wave of water roll over your hood on your first run with your new JKU and nothing you can do about it!!! (Jeep Jam, Palo Duro 2010) nuff said!!

Of course you're going to have to cut something to make it fit.

and $300 - $400
Good to know that the JK is nothing more than a pseudo Hummer!!!

It would be awesome if there was an extra channel outside of the snorkel to extend the breathers to... Rugged Ridge could even make the breather extension kit to make more money!!!

In my opinion the River Raider looks great... it's made from metal, it follows the A-pillar to the top, and it's not very long across the body! IMO the AEV snorkel is just about as ugly as chrome 22's on the JK. If you're kit was similar in appearance to the River Raider, was compatible with dual batts, could route concealed breathers, and mounted on the side instead of the hood... I'd be all over it!!!

No cutting on the hood would be nice. the river raider is nice its just way too expensive. Also you cant change the top between a pre filter and the straight intake. As far as price if you were able to get it out for $250 you would sell them all day long. Ive bought a lot of rugges ridge stuff and im happy with it. Make it happen captain

So I would like to:
1 Keep my rubicon sticker visible
2 work with dual battery trays
3 have an integrated CAI with a manual switch (or change of some sort) that seals up the CAI and initiates the snorkle operation when needed. Most of the time I prefer the CAI, but when you need a snorkle the traditional CAI are the worst.

Price doesn't really matter, and neither does material.

I agree with ALL this!

Cool very excited

I have reeeeeally wanted a snorkel for some time but have been hesistant with the current options being less than ideal.

I would like to keep my passenger side RR mirror relocated, i'd rather cut the body than cut the hood, dual battery would be a good option...

another thing many people have mentioned is variable height. Thats a great idea. The prefilter option is also worth doing. Seems like the snorkles put you in a position to suck in rain and dust so prefiltering seems like a must. And even though i have no intention of putting the jeep in water up to the top of the windshield, its nice to have a optional tube to raise or lower the intake.

Most importantly, do you guys have any estimate on when these may be available (even for testing?)... i know it probably takes a while to design and implement something like this, but if its in the near future it will be worth waiting for.

Thanks

We are looking at a late spring early summer 2011 at best. Yes it does take that much time when it comes to custom plastic parts. Metal is a lot easier and quicker to get to market. Plastics not so quick.

We are just now in the design phase so we don't even have working prototypes at this time. We are using hand made models to test air flow.

Default Kill Two Birds With One Stone.

Come out with a whole new hood that isn't tinny, put the snorkle in the middle of the hood and make the jeep look like it has a blower.
