I am shopping for one right now! got into some deep water at the badlands and now looking at snorkel. Need one that is compatible with my MBRP light bar. Some I have seen won't work for me. You make it work with my light bar, I'll stop looking and wait for yours to go into production.

Also, don't like the idea of cutting up my rubicon sticker on the side. read a post here about an air scoop on the hood. that could be cool.

If I was the fella designing this snorkel, I would not post one picture until it was set for production, and listed for sale. That way, other companies cannot rip off the basic design, and trump them on getting their product out first. Just sayin......

Default Pre Cleaner

The advertisement says that air enters through 'angled inlets',
and is said to 'spiral in decreasing circles'.

I doubt it.

1. I'm not convinced that the engine sucks the air fast enough for the angled inlets to make it spiral to an effective speed.
At least not fast enough to throw water drops/spray sideways.

2. 'spiral in decreasing circles' – This sounds as a misleading claim.
As the air moves up, the center cone narrows and the outer housing widens.
Therefore, as the air moves up, it moves through increasingly larger volume, which makes it move slower.
If it spirals, it will spiral increasingly slower, and the centrifugal force on water drops, if any, will decrease as it goes up.

Does anyone here know for a fact, or has evidence, that the air is actually circling fast enough to throw water to the inside of the outer housing?

Any comment on this, RR ?

Thanks

If ur asking about the pre cleaner, the answer is yes they do work. The air comes in the bottom and spins the dirt to the outside edge and the 'cleaned' air continues on. I've seen this work on forklifts and it's amazing what ends up in the pre cleaner. I can't wait for this product. Please take ur time RR, I'm waiting patiently to buy this .

This was my pet project that i managed to get approved with your help. We see how the interest sparked other companies to offer a simular product. We could have been to market sooner but I saw this as a chance to offer something new and different. As soon as i get the complete first samples (delayed a little - hope to have images soon). I will post up full details that include how it mounts, what you cut (very little), and how it runs behind the front fender to allow use of most , if not all, dual battery trays.

This time last year this was a napkin drawing. Wanted to have a concept at SEMA last year but just ran out of time. I promise to have a production ready version mounted at SEMA this year.. This includes a mounted and working sample for the new 2012 (3.6L). I have a 2 dr rubicon on order and will be shipping on the 5th so I will be able to be working on this very early for us new JK owners.... ( have to sell my 77 CJ that i have owned for the last 14 years).

The power top has been the big push this year and we hope that it does well. Im tasked with the prototype development of the 2dr version for next year along with the very cool aluminum bumper system we will show at SEMA..... if this was the only thing i was working on it would have been completed... for that i am sorry. I would ask you to look at the number of new products we come out with each year for the JK owner / compared to other companies, before you say im not motivated....
I wasn't gonna comment on this but i am. We all appreciate your hard work and efforts at RR. I have your front bumper and love it. And i've posted where i don't care for the snorkel design, but in regards of most people here, they are eager to get one and show lots of interest in it. I've seen videos of the power top, and read also that it was going to be in the neighbor of $5k. Is this true? If so i was reading that most people were not saying good things about it. More like they "aren't that lazy to have a power top" or "i'll do a little work and spend the 5k elsewhere" or "i have better things to spend 5k on than a top". I don't see where the power top is going to outsell your idea of the snorkel. Maybe it would be a good thing to set up a poll to see what would interest people more. Put your product and goal price. Then base your priority list off that.

Ok rant over, back to your regularly scheduled posting!!!
