I test drove the '12 JK 3.6 manual and auto. I've owned manual sports cars my whole life, but the JK with this 3.6 and auto surprised me. Good power for a Jeep and I believe in my retired state of life, it feels good to relax and let someone else do the shifting for once. No complaints, owner for two weeks. Just had the "works" installed and am extremely pleased with the transformation. 3.5" Fortec lift, Monster 20x10" rims on 35" Mickey Thompson ATZ's, Air Raid intake, Gibson black ceramic exhaust, HID lights with Angel Eyes being dropped in this coming week, reverse camera mounted due to the fact you can't see past the rear tire on HXD rear swing away and bumper, Rampage front bumper, mesh grill inserts, TRAIN HORN and additional surprises here and there... I love it!!

I got lucky. When i was ready to sell my TJ i'd had for 10 yrs and buy a JK i didn't do any research on the JK line. I bought a 2012 Rubicon Unlimited and then AFTER the fact found out it had the new 3.6 Pentastar vs the 3.8. So i just dumbed into the new motor. I think Chrysler uses the 3.6 in a lot of other vehicles too so its not like its a 'new' motor.

night and day in terms of performance. much faster. not sure about the pulling/towing. they both have mechanicalissues. the 3.8 chewed up bearings and the 3.6 seems to have an issue with the heads.

call me crazy but i still like the torque of the 4.0, but not the 12 mpg

On a vehicle with high mileage Chrysler charges I thingk 30 cents a mile but mine only has 7,000 on it so that will not be an issue. According to my financial institution it will be an even swap and will not affect my note or the terms of the note.

Man that is an awesome deal-- you will love the new engine/transmission. Night and day difference-- I had a '10 JKU and now have a '12 JK Rubicon--- couldn't be happier with the new Jeep!

I have a 2012 JKUR and I think the motor is a night and day differance in power and performance! There is NO LAG of the line at all!
As far as the leak goes , that's fucked up that they couldnt fix the problem.( it's good for you and I hope they didn't stick with any fees) but my new JKUR had a leak on the passenger side and my dealer had an outside independent contractor that specialized in water tests do a thorough exam of my vehicle and then fixed it ( no cost) they replaced seals around glass and door frames as well as checked weep holes in doors!
Side note: my 2007 JKU Sahara had a very similar water problem except worse... It would actually leak on my lap while driving! Got rid of it in 2010

Congrats on the JKUR Penstar upgrade!! But keep a close eye on the leaks... It's been a known problem for jeep for years now! I live in Jersey and we get a decent share of rain up here so I guess for us it's easier to see happen , then someone that lives out west where it doesn't rain but a couple times a year!

Thanks, It is getting ready to become Hurricane season here from June to November so we are expecting the rains to start anytime. The conditions are right for Hurricanes. If it does not leak in a Hurricane it will never leak. However we don't need one or want one to check for leaks.
