agreed, we must be talking about a different noise.. I'm talking about the "Basketball shoe on gym floor sound"

Hit the gas "chirp chirp", it does even when not shifting and i've talked to people with auto's with the same problem. Also talked to people on here who had their clutch fixed and it seemed to fix it, and then it came back...

i still think its a tranny mount

Well, that stinks because we are talking about the same noise then, and yes, it will still make the noise even if you're not shifting. I did already notify the dealer of the tranny mounts, and for whatever reason, they aren't looking at them as the culpret. I'll see what happens after the clutch and flywheel replacement.

That's funny though, why would the noise disappear just because the clutch was replaced if it really is the tranny mounts? That's strange.....Oh how this mystery kills me. If it ain't fixed in a timely manner, I ain't keeping this thing. It sounds so damn horrible!!!

Please keep us updated! I am very curious how this turns out (and then how I am going to convince my dealer to replace the flywheel / clutch because I told them to). When is the plan to have the work done?

My svc mgr heard the noise on his ride with me and offered no solution. Also drove two other 6 speeds on his lot and both made the noise at around 1800 RPM.

Parts are to arrive on Monday, and the service advisor makes it sound like the work will be performed when it gets there at the dealership. Don't worry, if it isn't the proper fix for it, my advisor is more than determined to get this problem resolved. We WILL get to the bottom of this, period. I have multiple other vehicles at home, so I don't care if they take a month (though I'll ask for a loaner or something because I wanna go JEEPIN!!!!)

They replaced the flywheel on mine and the noise was gone for about 2 months. The noise is back!!! I'm very confused as to why there isn't a TSB on it, unless they have no idea what the issue is.

UPDATE:

My Jeep is back in my possession after a long and hard couple of weeks.

Here is the verdict:

After pulling the clutch disc and seeing excessive scoring on it, the adviser and the Jeep engineers decided that replacing the clutch disc, along with the throw out bearing and pressure plates would be a good fix. And guess what, it is. Now I understand for some, the noise comes back in 2 months. Well, that doesn't mean that the diagnosis was wrong, it just means you have a second set of shotty parts and you need to go through the process again. But for now, with what I stated above, it is FIXED. No noise, period.

DENVER AREA FOLKS: If you're having the chirping sound when you apply the accelerator, take it to GO on BROADWAY and BELLVIEW. These guys rock and will take care of your ride.

AUTOMATIC TRANS OWNERS: Don't know what to tell you other than if you live in Denver, take it to the above dealer, they WILL find out more than what 99 percent of dealers are willing to find out.

MANUAL TRANS OWNERS: You have your fix, now go on in and get er done!

That might be it - they only replaced the flywheel, not the clutch disk. I agree that maybe it doesn't make sense to replace a bad part with another bad part. I'll wait a while to hopefully see a TSB come out. Keep us posted.

Good news...Thanks!

Would you happen to have the name of the Jeep Engineer or even the name of the Service Manager at your dealer? Maybe PM me if you don't want to post here.

The dealers I have visited all acknowledge the noise, but have no fix. Having some contact for them to call will assist me greatly since I doubt that they will pulll the clutch becuase I told em so.

My guess is that if the noise comes back, perhaps it is a material issue. Still no TBS?
How many miles was on yours? Why did they not also replace the flywheel too?

Call me a skeptic but i'm not convinced the "chirp" sound that all these owners are having is related to the clutch...explain why it makes the noise on a really bumpy road in neutral...try it on a logging road, you'll hear it...

it doesn't just do it on shift either, let off on the gas, hit it, chirp chirp.. might add that the chirp is consistent to the exact amount that the vehicle "torques" on any given gas hit.... for instance; the jeep bounces 3 times, chirp chirp chirp...

still think its an engine or tranny mount.. could even be driveshaft....but clutch?? hmmm not sure..

I should record the sound and post it.. I work in an audio studio, maybe I could take a boom mic with me one day and see if I can record it, that way we'll know if its the same sound

Well, it's simple. If it was the tranny mounts or anything else, the noise would still be there. SIMPLE: They replaced what they did and the noise is non existant, not even the slightest hint.
