Random No Crank Club
I've been part of the "random no crank club" for about 2 months now
There are a few threads already started, and similar "No Start" complaints with different symptoms.
The "Random No Crank Club" (RNCC) has nearly identical symptoms and similar temporary solutions. Because this condition is random it's very difficult to troubleshoot...
The main symptom:
1) A RANDOM no crank condition with a starter "click"
The Temporary Solutions:
1) Shift to neutral or "rock the jeep" and turn the key until crank
2) Remove the white fuse under the hood for 30 seconds
I'm determined to find the permanent fix for this particular issue
As of today I've replaced the following parts with no luck:
-Starter
-Starter Solenoid Relay
There is a Service Bulletin to replace the WCM, however I'm told that that issue would not allow a "click" from the starter.
Another forum member had a dealer replace the Transmission Range Sensor PN 4659677-AC ( $50 part). This wouldn't be too bad except that it's located inside the tranny behind the pan and valve body. This is not exactly a driveway project and costs an arm at the dealer.
So what's next

Is it an ignition problem? Did you try to bypass the soleniod with a hot wire to see if it would crank. Check the ground, might have dirt or got knocked loose.

The ground lead at the starter seems solid. It's a cheap connector, so maybe a direct solder might be worth a shot.
Not sure if this relates but I had a similar problem in Jan. 09. Had to do with the Sentry key chip not communicating with the module under the dash (steering column). Dealer ordered a new module and called when it arrived, took appox. 1/2 hr. was good to go and hasn't happened again. Obviously there was no starter click and no lights in dash due to the Jeep not getting signal from key. But lifting the white fuse (just that one time) got me though the couple wks. till the new part came in.
I just had a "long crank" then start. After that I turned the engine off, then got stranded for an hour with the click-no-crank.
The "Long Crank" Service Bulletin has you replace the crank sensor and reprogram the module with the $4,500 Starscan. This service bulletin doesn't seem to fit the "click-no-crank" issue though.
The Jeep is now safe in the driveway blocking my wife
I'll try replacing the starter ground tomorrow.
Keep the input coming

Sitting at Work an hour from home with this bullcrap. Where is the white fuse at under the hood?
EDIT: I think I found it, is it the 60amp fuse with the white connector? Tried that and it reset the clock, but still no start. I have apparently been part of thus club for almost 2 years now. Still at work scratching my head. If I am past my warranty, will they still charge me to fix this problem at the dealer?

I hope you got home alright!
The dealer would probably charge for troubleshooting, and would definately charge to fix it. If you've had the dealer fix ANYTHING (regardless of warranty) it has a 12 month 12,000 warranty both on the part and the workmanship.
I'm working on my starter solenoid ground today, and tested my two starters (OK) to be absolutely certain.
I also replaced the Start/ ACC/ Run relay with no luck.
If the ground doesn't fix it, mine is going to the dealer tomorrow.
This happened to me last year and I had it fixed under warranty, they replaced my battery and crank sensor. The battery is only 11 months. I had my wife come get me last night and when she was 5 minutes away, it randomly cranked up. It started fine this am too. My radio and lights worked fine, could it be there just isn't enough cca?
I pulled the orange 60 amp fuse with a white connector. It didn't work...subscribing to this thread. I'm sick of getting stranded.
