Random No Crank Club
Mine just started doing this randomly a few weeks ago. Right now it seems to only be in the morning. Put in the key turn it over nothing. Move the Steering wheel back and forth nudge the Auto shifter forward and it starts????? I have 53,000 on mine replace the battery awhile ago with a Yellow Top Optima. No dash light.....yet.
Erockhopper,
Let me know if you get a answer to this....
Or the dealership that fixes it.
Mine just starting doing this and I have 36,100 miles on it!
But if I take it in, it starts right up.
I have been reading its the range sensor in the trans.
Just figures.

I sent you a PM
It's also happening to me too (6 speed). That's why I was hoping it would be an electronic issue outside the tranny. I tried moving my steering wheel back and forth as much as I can to get it to start with no luck.
So I replaced my 2 month old GOOD Diehard platinum battery (880 CCA) 3 days ago. I put a Diehard Gold in it's place rated at 770 CCA.
The Auto parts store tested the platinum battery good, and actual numbers were 12.6V and 930 CCA.
After replacing the battery with the lower CCA rating, I immediately noticed that the starter actually turns SLOWER.
I haven't had the "click, no crank" since.
I'm still not convinced this is my Jeep's "fix", and plan to give it a full week before I jump to conclusions.
The past few weeks I've only had first-time starts 50% of the time (no crank 4-5 times a day). No problems with same driving conditions for 3 days. My "no crank" issue happened to start around the time I first got the Platinum Battery. Coincidence? Maybe?
If anybody with this issue gets the chance, try swapping any old 12 V battery from any other vehicle. (It won't bolt down and you may have to rearrange the wires)
This may/ may not be the fix but it's something "free"

I had the long crank a couple times right after the Jeep was new. Then last summer, I got the random no crank. Pulling the fuse seemed to fix it. Haven't had it happen again til this past weekend. I put it in neutral and it started just fine, didn't have to rock it though so, who knows.....
I've been pushing forward on the gear selector when it's in park and it starts every time it acts up. It's just hard to push the gear selector forward and turn the key at the same time.
PM me to let me know if that seems to work for you too, Please.

Just to clarify here...
My shifter (neutral & pushing forward) also started the engine after a click-no-crank issue
After weeks of click-no-crank 4-5 times a day, I HAVE NOT HAD THE ISSUE.
The last thing I replaced was the GOOD battery. (I know it doesn't make sense)
Has anyone else tried this? (Just borrow another car battery for a day or two)

Go to the auto parts store and get spool of 10AWG wire, some 1/2" flat washers, and a package of #10-12 AWG ring lugs with about a 7/16" ring ID. Remove the bolt in the negative battery terminal that secures the negative battery cable. Make up a jumper wire using the 10AWG wire with a ring terminal at each end that is long enough to run from the negative battery clamp, along the fire wall and then forward along the drivers side intake up to the alternator bracket. At the top of the alternator you will find a bolt that secures a black support to the alternator. Remove this bolt and attached the other end of the jumper wire with a flat washer between the bolt head and the ring terminal, then screw the bolt back in place. Attached the opposite end of the jumper to the negative battery terminal along with the negative battery cable using the original bolt. You will find that your jeep will start every time or at least until you drain the battery.
My jeep reached the point that it failed to do anything but the famous click sound from the starter solenoid trying to engage and I got fed up and worked for several hours until I found this solves the issue. I now have over 60 starts with this fix and 100% starting every time I turn the key.
