So where have you been mounting the CB's?

I also have the Tuffy center console. I installed my Yaesu FT-859 in it for the same security reasons. I had considered putting the radios elsewhere, but I didn't want my passengers to hit them with their legs or have them high enough to attract unwanted attention. I also didn't want to have to take them out after weekend wheeling or trips.
I like the idea of the Tuffy overhead console, but I don't like that it takes up so much of the "topless space" above. It definitely looks cool but feels like it takes away from the topless function. Plus they're pretty pricey and with the model Cobra I have, the security door won't close & lock because of the CB's knobs. I will probably end up relocating the CB into the center floor console anyways. Being mounted right now off the footmans loop it still shakes a bit on semi-rough road... I can't imagine how much it will shake on the trail. Any ideas?
It will shake, mine does. Mine is huge and heavy. The thing is, it won't fall off no matter how much it shakes. There is only so much it can shake. I have been trying to come up with a way to stabilize it even more to reduce the shake but all in all most of us only use the CB on the freeway and the trail. Just take it down when not in use.
I went with a Uniden 520xl and a Cooltech Gatemount kit with a 4' Firestik. I did the insulated clamp-on-the-footman loop installation although I turned the left corner bracket facing inward which allowed me to center the radio mounting bracket. In the JKU, the 18' of coax included in the kit doesn't reach when running it up through the A pillar. Those with four doors, how are you extending the coax? Thanks!

I have got to thank Rooster and the rest of you for the Footman loop idea. Worked great on my CB install yesterday on my 2012 with hardtop. Here are a few pics:
I drilled an offset hole so it slightly angles toward me.

Relocated the 2A fuse:

Super low SWR on all channels

I used an Arizona Rocky Road antenna mount. Worked out ok. They supply 6 fender washers for the base but I used two .5" locking washers - seemed to work better.

I use a 4' Firestik II. Did not even need to tune it.

There is a quick overview. Here is my album about the install on my Flickr account:
