I made a bracket and pulled out the one bolt down low on the console on the passenger side. Mounted the bracket then mounted the CB to it. I ran the wire out the passenger side under the carpet and out back to the fab four tire carrier.

How exactly does this work? I'm interested in a similar setup.

Looks good & stable, but I'm not sure how much I'd like that piece of metal running overhead when I'm topless.

It sits right at the end of your sun visors. I don't think you could really get any closer to the front
Its just an option, it really doesn't bother me, most people who have gotten in the jeep don't even notice it, much less the radio till I point it out.

Here is my take on the overhead mount.

I used to have it mounted on the passenger side next to the shifter but got tired of people kicking it.

If you're serious, I do have paypal I also have enough 1/8" stock to make 4 or 5 more if there is any interest.

The mount is very stable and uses the bolts of the center loop. The plastic trim piece must be cut back a little though for the mount to fit.

PM me if you're serious, and we can work something out
