I was planning on bolting it to the rear seat belt bolts but it ended up being a tight enough fit that it doesn't move at all and feels pretty solid without.

He knows everything about every 4x4 out there and choosen a Jeep Wrangler 2 door, that is so cool.

Just before he had a Gelandewagen

He also says that the traction control when in low range is almost as good as locking diffs, so the traction control is very good in a Jeep Wrangler.

I am reading now his new book 3rd edition "Four-by-four driving" and understand now that this guy know what he is talking about. It is very intresting read.

Soon I will read the new 3rd edition Vehicle-dependent Expedition Guide

You can order the books from here

I know this is an old post, but before I saw this I called up Tom's office no. to order his latest book, I spoke to him personally and he was raving about the Wrangler over the Defender. It's unusual here in the UK as Land Rovers are the norm, particularly from an old school type explorer.

I also have a question that some of you may be able to answer. I'm doing an overland trip to the Spanish Pyrenees in October and right now I have no tailgate carrier. I want to carry two jerry cans with diesel, which I know will be too heavy for my stock carrier. Well this morning when reading Tom's book and he shows a photo of his 2 door JK carrying 4 or 5 jerry cans inside.

Is this OK, as I was always told otherwise. If so this'll save me buying the terraflex hinge and a rotopax solution.

Impressive that he thinks so highly of the JK.

So do I!

I want more from this thread, I keep checking back to see if anyone has added more awesomeness but then I realize - most people with EXPO modded JK's are probably out exploring and conquering awesome adventures!

Well that's my $0.02
