naturally cornering will be hurt, especially at speed. For washboard and whoops on rough roads, much smoother disconnected. Allows your axle to move more freely without giving the rough feedback to the rest of the jeep. I usually don't go over 45 mph over rough roads, in any case, disco'd works excellent for me

Default My Expedition Jeep

Here is my expedition ready Jeep. I have a lot of mods on it.

This is a 2011 Sahara.

I am actually planning a cross country USA trip - but I am also scared on putting on all those miles.

I've discovered the joys of airing down on washboard roads, but am wondering if I'm missing something by not disconnecting. I'm not going to be a rock crawler...my jk is my daily driver plus I like keeping my cars/jeeps in good condition. I mainly use it to explore the owyhee and sawtooth mountains here in idaho. Btw, I own a sport so I'd have to buy manual disconnects which I hear can be a pain in the buttocks.
I miss Idaho...great places to ride out there. Used to go hit the forestry trails north of Mountain Home all the time, great trails in Idaho City and you've got to wheel Sinker Creek in the Owyhee Mtns!

Well I finally got the led bar and the pillar lights wired up. Switches turned out awesome. The jeep lights up red when I turn the headlights or the perking lights on which is convenient since I have a red jeep. When you turn the lights on the words light up green Thank You OTRATTW!!

And the last pics is the lights burning a whole in the garage wall!

I also did the XJ roof rack from a 2001 last weekend for my fathers day project.
It is off a 2001 XJ. I got an extra set of cross bars with it all for $25 at the local yard. I love junk yard gold!!
The way the XJ rack looks on the JK looks like the factory did it.
Now I ordered the mounts for the Surco Roof rack that mount to the XJ rack should have those in a week.
I will post when I get the roof rack on.

Thanks for the tips! I went through the owyhee upland byway a few weeks ago and am planning on heading up towards silver city or placerville...but maybe I'll check out sinker creek instead. This thread really makes me want to get out of dodge!

Great looking jeep! I'm planning on doing the xj roof rack mod too...especially since its cheap and I already have a rocket box. Could you post picks of how the bolts look from the inside?

Thanks bigmike17, I copied your technique, except stood on the bumper to pull it down. No problem getting the top off by myself now.

Default When I grow up I want to be Mark Doiron!

Did some trails with a buddy this weekend in the Black Hills of SD.
Between the hail and the rain we were able to take a few pics.....

These were all on open Forrest service roads....

Hope you enjoy..

They are not as good as his but maybe ....When I grow up I can to be Mark Doiron!
