It uses four of the A-pillar bolts.

The price difference is the price of the snorkel that's on my wish list. Am I nuts not to immediately jump on the D44 and push the snorkel until Xmas? Will the D30 hold up if I don't? Anybody gone the D30 LSD route then regretted it? <img src="https://www.jk-forum.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=607263"/>
I can't comment on the strength difference between the two; I know the D44 is stronger but how much I can't speak towards. I do know that the stock housings aren't so strong either way. I have a Rubicon w/ D44s and 35s. I immediately sleeved my axles and gusseted my housings to reduce the likelihood of axle issues on the trail. In expedition travel preparation is important to help ensure a good trip.

Not exactly an expedition post but the left side tan one is our expedition rig with airbags, lift and many many other mods. We tow a popup cause we aren't true tow and camp on the trail. We are a camp and take a trail family.

Well today we finished off the family of JK's by my oldest getting his first jeep. The middle blue one is his. 2009 and came with a lot of extras for a great price and only 72k miles. Just wanted to brag a bit about it. Orange on the right is my wife's. Hers is a blank canvas for now. And the blue one will eventually get lifted etc.

I follow this group and have posted several times. My tan rig is a do everything rig that's why it's not heavily modded except for the paint job. It's our travel off-road rig mainly.

How's visibility? Does it hamper what you can see?

Nope you can't even see the rack from the drivers seat. The A-pillars block the piping.

I can understand wanting to charge while they wait to get mine back, but the full price of a new one? No way. Also I would have had to pay for shipping back to them.
Luckily I am in the desert so no rust, or darn near. Mine was stiff too for about a week.

Sucks that you had such bad experience from them.

This has some potential for the overlanding community. Not all Jeeps, but that is the nature of overlanding, isn't it?

Alright guys I need some help. I've been saving up for the Gobi Ranger and I have enough cash now, but thanks to this thread found myself looking at the barricade offered by extreme terrain. I need a rack to move my kayak and one day a roof top tent. Both succeed in doing this so it comes down to style and price. I like that the Gobi already has a basket but I'm not sure I need a basket. Any input from anyone is appreciated but I'd really like to hear from people who have a Gobi or a barricade. Thanks guys.

I can't speak on the Gobi, but like I said before I'm overall impressed with the Barricade. I can guarantee you'd be happy with Gobi though, but I just couldn't justify the price. The Barricade came in two boxes with each piece wrapped individually. The only thing I've heard people complain about are the nut things that attach the crossbars. The nut is inside a plastic knob but they sometimes break loose inside. A simple and cheap solution I did (which I think looks better than the big knobs) are to pick up 6 metric wing nuts. Same concept and more simple. Overall I'd give it a 4/5.
