When I drove to Alaska last year, all I took was bear spray since getting a gun through Canada is almost impossible. Every person had their own can of spray. We kept all the food put away in the trailer or Yeti every night and kept the trailer a good 20 yards or more from out tents. When I camp in the lower 48, I do have a gun, a Glock32 that I hope I will never use but it is there. I leave bear spray in my Jeep all the time, since I like to hike where I live and we have had bears (on our 2 bear proof trash can this year, since we sometimes forget to bring it in), coyotes and a big cat in the yard.

Bear spray has been proven to work and for most people is a lot better option than a gun, better for the bear too. Think about how accurate you are shooting a gun at a target while you are taking your time and now shooting a gun accurate enough to take down a charging bear, while you heart wants to come through your chest would be a great shot, where the bear spray will spray a nice pattern and have a better chance at being more effective. And I would have zero problem using Bear spray on a 2 legged pos.

Not all that hard. About a gazillion U.S. hunters take rifles and shotguns into Canada every year. I've done it myself several times. No big deal.

Now handguns? The Canadians aren't fond of us bringing those in...

Wish it where that simple. I got detained at the boarder for 3 hours because I have a hard mounted holsters in my center console, even though there where no guns, they tore apart my Jeep & Trailer and even broke the holster pulling it out of the console. I have also had friends who where turned away at the boarder and they had the correct paperwork, but where told it wasn't filled out correctly and these where guys who had gone across before with guns.

Well there ya go! You're one of those suspicious fellows!

Sorry your holster was broken. Yeah, I got quite the search once when they were suspicious that I might have had a handgun hidden somewhere. Didn't, but I tell you, I was sweating it, wondering if I had a stray magazine or handgun ammo or something else somewhere in the rig, forgotten by me...

Fortunately I didn't. All the other border crossings into Canada, with my rifles, have been effortless.

Regards, CW

Got my spare mounted up on my m416. Used a stock tire carrier and reinforced the tub to hold the weight.

You might also mention you are that "elite weapons instructor" someone referred to earlier, an ex-Marine and retired cop. If something bad is headed my way, you're the guy (Guy, LOL) I want in my camp. ;-)

Default Jeep® ActionCamper© spotted in Anza Borrego Desert

The first production Jeep® ActionCamper© is on tour around the West. The customer from Switzerland is very happy with his Rubicon Diesel (brought from his home) and the ActionCamper© (installed in SoCal). We guided them to a first tour to the beautiful Anza Borrego Desert.

I would like to know what you guys think. What changes / options you'd want.
