3 weeks, 3600+ miles, way out of my normal operating area here in the Northwest! The little Jeep did well. It's a 2012 JK, 6 speed manual, 4.10's w/air lockers, Teraflex 2" front & 2.5" rear springs, Fox shocks, 33" tires (285/75/16 BFG KO2's). The trailer is a Jackwagon Basecamp. It worked very well! By far my longest trip with it. Average fuel consumption was 16+ mpg. Way less in 4wd off-pavement. This sort of thing is what I had in mind when I bought it new 6 years ago. The little Jeep has given Mama and I a lot of fun and satisfaction over the years.

White Rim Road is incredible. Most of it can be driven in 2wd, but there are a few areas that demand 4-low. I didn't take photos in the worst areas, was busy driving! Campsites are very good. Get 'em reserved now. I think your fall trip should be outstanding!
Drove out to San Diego a couple weeks ago. Family trip, so no real plans up front for Jeep activities. However, I did want to visit a few places along the way for photography. Most I've documented previously in my videos, so didn't want to repeat those prior efforts. But, looking at my Rand McNally Road Atlas, I noted a dirt road that could get me to a place I'd never been before: Chiricahua National Monument. So, headed out through the Coronado National Forest, across the mountains, and down to the national monument. It turned out that the road through the national forest was not as obvious to travel as my map made it seem. And just before heading up into the mountains ran into a fellow who, when I told him where I was headed, basically said, "There ain't no way there from here." But, looking at his much better maps, we figured out a way, and that's what I drove. However, not without taking a couple wrong turns along the way. This was a quick side-trip, but I did get some (mostly GoPro) video, so will put something short together for DigitalByDoiron. Meanwhile, here's a shot of my Jeep near the top of pass across the mountains ...
