From my perspective, here's "what had happened". Back in the YJ days, they had this issue with TJ's, then TJ's got used to it and now it's the JK's turn. With the added "cushiness" of the JK's compared to previous versions, there are more non-enthusiast types driving them (how many other Jeeps had heated seats, power windows, power locks, and Nav as factory options?).
Just keep on waving and it'll infiltrate the masses again.
I wave every time but if you don't see me through my windshield on a hot or cold day, there's no way you're goona see it through my tint.
Also, there's "wave etiquette" that applies. If you're passing on a 2 lane road (one lane each way)....wave.
If you're on the inside lane of a 4 lane road and the speed is reasonable....wave.
I'm not gonna wave at someone going the opposite direction when I'm going 50 and so are they. Let's be realistic here...and safe for that matter.

And if you're waving across the highway median...c'mon now.

Motorcycle riders do that and most are going 50mph (Harley's) and 80mph(sportbikes)

I have a co-worker who got a new JK. First thing I told him, to be part of the family, you have to wave...

Well, we went out to lunch, and first jeep he passed, he waved and got a wave back, "Welcome to the Family!"

I may miss some now and then, but I try to wave when ever possible.

That's true...but the odds that those guys are paying attention is much higher. They've got to pay twice as much attention to the road since a lot of the other drivers aren't looking out for them. They tend to see more.
I try not to look across the highway too much since if I'm on the highway at all, it usually means I have my kids in the back so I'm trying to pay as much attention as possible to what's around me in the "vehicular warzone" that is the greater Baltimore Washington area...

I wave at all Wranglers. Even when I'm driving our Chrysler Pacifica, or our Honda Goldwing trike. Oh yeah, also when I'm in our Wrangler JK Unlimited.

I wave, both on the bike and in the Jeep. What feels odd is when I'm in the wife's Lexus and pass either a bike or a Jeep, and I can't figure out what I'm supposed to do. They're probably wondering what's going on with that confused guy in the mommy wagon. More often than not around these parts, I'll get a wave returned. No big deal either way to me, I'm still enjoying my drive.

The wave is meant to encourage a sense of community. We are different then most people and need to celebrate that fact.

Don't make such a big deal out of it, keep waving and spread the gospel. Do not take it so personal, maybe they don't get it, are talking on the hands free, or not noticing you, etc. why should you feel bad? How do you know they don't feel stupid because they missed the wave until it was too late to return it?

In the early sixties hot rodders did the thumbs up then in the mid-sixties I got my first HD and it didn't take long to get the bikers salute. Then I noticed some guys didn't return because of no mods, wrong model, no colors, etc.

Don't worry about the Jeep wave, just do it!

I wave at every Wrangler I see, modded or not. The only consistency i see is that most chicks don't wave. Sort of like they don't hold doors.

Now before I get hounded, I know it isn't all women who don't hold the door, but enough that it is a trend.
