That's great! My family thinks I have a weird disease because I traded in my Audi S4 for mine. My wife is at least supportive.

I am not trying to be an a-hole as the original poster of the other thread wasn't, it is simply a valid question for me. It seems to me that all JK's are quite capable, so if you could have more room for family, friends and gear why wouldn't you buy the unlimited? On top of the room, it also tows more and I am sure will go through snow better. With all of this being said, are they that much better off road and going through tight spaces, or is it just that they were originally built as two doors, so they should never be changed?
I think if they (Chrysler) had made a longer wheel base 2 door JK much like the 04 to 06 model unlimited tj's, I would have done that instead. But I don't have a use for the 4 doors, or the vulnerable and flimsy b-pillar

I own a 2 door, but there have been many occasions when I really could have used a 4 door. Every time I have to wrestle my grand daughter into the car seat in back, I wish I could just open a door and strap her in.

The 2 Door is more agile on the trail, but the 4 door is more stable on steep climbs, less likely to pitch back over. Ditto going down steep slopes.

Because the 2 door weighs about 15% less, it's power-to-weight ratio is notably better, meaning better acceleration at all speeds.

In short, you decide what you need and you buy accordingly. There's no stigma associated with 4 door Wranglers.

would a 4 door corvette still be a corvette? It would appeal to a wider market and people would buy it.

I like the 2 door
I like that I can drive out of my driveway, turn 360 in the 2 lane road in front of my house, and drive right back in the other way, few vehicles can do that.
I can park it anywhere.
It's super fun to drive because it's so small - it's like driving a big 4wheeler more than a full sized vehicle.

I think the unlimited are weird-looking, especially with the doors off.

With the same sized lift & tires, 2 doors don't high center as easily.

2 Door all the way for me, in fact, in the summertime it's a no door. Kids are grown & gone, it's not my daily driver, & the rear seat is in the shed, nuff said!!

I was at a Geocaching event this weekend with my new JK 2 door (gave my reasons earlier for 2 door).

I found a new reason for the 2 door however.

A fellow Geocacher and I were talking and he noticed the new Jeep (he was familiar with my TJ). We were talking and he said "I like it. It looks more like the classic CJ's". Now, bear in mind he's not a Jeeper so he didn't realize how wrong he was, but we continued talking.

His reason for the statement was that he has seen so many 4 doors that he though they had all changed to the 4 door.

So I'll add to my original post and say that the 2 door has more of a 'classic' look to the average person.

Bet this would look good on a 4 door.

1) Better power to weight ratio.
2) Shorter well base requires less lift to keep from getting high centered.
3) Rarely ever carry anyone in the back seat.
4) Classic, sportier (to me) look.
